    The Storm of Life
    By Gig Giegerich
From my private collection "Poetry from the darkside of the night"

The raging river racing through my veins
The water cold and wet soaking my brain
Never freedom nor refuge from the pains
The torrents within driving me insane

The storm clouds thunder and the lightning flares
Stripped of protection my soul is laid bare
And dwindling to nothing all of my cares
No one left to notice nor be aware

The beginning of the end as it starts
And ripped at the seams my poor broken heart
The target of burning and fiery darts
Split like the heavens and sundered apart

No shelter for me, no tent o'er my head
No future to see, I stay in my bed.

MeThinks you should look below the surface of the words. I use rhyme because I enjoy it. I have written free verse and other forms as well. But I like simple styles.
