I REALLY want some dreads, problem is i'm not sure if i can with my hair type. It's Fine, Thin, very straight, and kinda silky. I already know if i did get them i couldent get think ones, cause my hair is thin..so i had my friend section one side of my hair, it wasent a very good job..just a rough job to see whats up. i couldent see how she did it..but according to her i would end up with like 24 small dreads. which dosent make sense to me to have small dreads but only like 20..cause that would look stupid, they would be spread apart and stuff. you see what i'm saying?

So my question is can someone with hair like mine dread it and get good results?

Is your hair sparse as well as each individual hair being thinner than normal hairs?

Well if there aren't big gaps between your hairs, there wouldn't be big gaps between your dreads... Am I being totally thick and missing your point? lol:p

I have thin silky hair and only 20-25 dreads and I don't think it looks bad.

you should probally section out your hair the way you want it and braid it and thatll be about the size youll have only the braiding part would be a lil bigger when dreaded and you can see if youd like the section and size

your hair sounds just like mine was before I started it, except that I had overprocessed mine with bleach and colour so many times, I would have had to chop it all off if I didn't dread it lol

I have 36 dreads, which is, from what I've heard on the interbutt, very few (not sure if that's true, w/e), but they look sick even though multiple people told me because it was so straight and fine that it wouldn't lock up.

ALL hair locks up, if you put down the comb and wash it with something that doesn't condition, so do not fear the locks, just go get them.

ummm 20 wouldn't look stupid at all. That's a good average for dreads. Most people fall between 20-30. As always with dreads, they will more than likely thicken up over time. Your hair will shrink and they will get thicker. From what I've heard around these parts, thin hair knots up pretty well. I'm sure you will be fine

yeah i had 59 done by backcombing, several fell out, some have been born with twist & rip.. but somewhere between 20-30 is good. loads of mine are really thin, and im hoping theyll fatten up with time, cause i dont like really thinnies..

chances are your hair will dread, but might need a bit of help. my natural hair is very smooth and silky, which is why we backcombed instead of leaving it to go natural =]

doing your own sections and braiding is a good idea.
20 dreads wont look stupid at all. i have 30-something and have very very thick hair. with my last set, i only had 19! they looked sick imo. i want less and fatter dreads so im letting them congo.

I only have 26 and mine look great :D I don't have weird gaps anywhere either. Well maybe I do, I'm not sure, but either way you wouldn't be able to see it because it's all full of loose hair... 20 dreads would be fine as well.
