I was just thinking recently that there are so many songs about unrequited love out there, but rarely any of the songs are from the other person's point of view (the person who does not take an interest in the person interested in them). Personally, I like to listen to music that relates to personal experiences, and this is something I am going through now. I feel a huge purpose for music is to listen, relate, and feel a connection. If any of you know of any songs from the OTHER side of unrequited love, I'd love for you to share them with me. I am not a fan of rap/R&B (recent)/country, so I ask that you please do not suggest anything in those genres. I mainly favor rock, and older rock at that; however, I do not care if you have something else in another genre outside of rock. Thank you!
Ooo, good question. How about "I Can't Wake Up To Save My Life" by Richard Thompson? It's the second song he plays in this video.
Don't want you woman, please stay away from me Don't want you woman, please stay away from me Well the one I got she is sure good enough for me Don't call me baby, I don't think it's kind Don't call me baby, I don't think it's kind Well, I got another woman - don't intend to leave her behind Don't call me baby, call me on the phone Don't call me baby, call me on the phone If you wanna be kind to me girl, kindly leave me alone Don't come on up to me baby, when you see me walkin' down the town Don't come on up to me baby, when you see me walkin' down town Don't wanna be unkind girl, but You ain't the kind of woman I want around - Hey right! Don't want you woman, please stay away from me Don't want you woman, please stay away from me Well the one I got she is, sure good enough for me Ten Years After - Don't want you woman From the top of my head also Quicksilver Messenger Service - I hear you knocking comes to mind. I'm sure there are lots of more songs with this theme in blues and blues rock.
