Just thought I'd do a quick "hello" forum before starting to post here, I've been lurking this forum for a few months and it has so far been the most engaging, thoughtful, and still fun, dread forum I've come across! My names Kate, I live in BC, 19 years old, my dreads will be 3 months old at the end of this month. I have 36 dreads (my hair was very thin and straight before dreading, and the girl who did my sections was unfortunately, very impatient), backcombed, used wax for the first few weeks until you guys scared it out of me lol. Without the wax my hair has been rapidly progressing and locking up like CRAZY, so thank you all for informing the general public on the icky issues with wax. I really look forward to posting on here and sharing my dready journey with you all! eace:
Howdy, sorry if this is awkward or anything, I just didn't wanna start posting after lurking (which I don't make a habit of, this place just drew me in lol) for so long. BTW Ozzy your signature gives me the willies everytime I see it... lol
helloo *waves* =] i wanna see your locks! mine will be 2 months at the end of this week, i wanna compare =]
Time goes by so must faster when you don't keep track. :toetap05: Mine are almost 15 months and it seems like yesterday I started. But the first 6 months was the longest I have ever experienced.
Hi kate!! It does. Two weeks ago I was suddenly like, wow my dreads are 10 moths today... I almost forgot.
No, sorry, but I have a digital camera after the weekend when my parents are back, so I'll post a pic then . Yours look great btw.
iwelcome kate ..lets eseee em but yea i never pay attention to time i cant remembber how long mine too to lock but seemed really fast..days even but when ysa never owned a waych or looked at a calander times a warped factor..it seemed like weeks ago maybe a month or 2 that i posted my 18 year update and now i find the 19 year mark comming up fast
My camera is currently KIA but my roommate will be taking some photos for me so as soon as I have some I'll post them I wish I could say time flies. I originally wanted to get dreads like three years ago with a friend of mine but my dad flipped ass and told me he didn't want me to take on that lifestyle blah blah but I'm out of the house now, queen of the castle lol, and he's relaxed a little now that they've locked up more and I've dropped the wax. Seriously for a while there I looked like I had a million greasy rats on my head, as my brother so eloquently put it. Moral of the story is do them when you want them, don't wait, I really wish I hadn't, I get people stopping me all the time now "oh I love your hair" and "I used to have dreads!" I always tell those ones to grow them back for me lol
lol yeah my family's pretty reserved, they think they're not but the definitely are. My grandma just asked me if I washed them then told me she didn't want to talk about them anymore lol and my grandpa has a hard time looking at me while he's talking to me, which is, thank god, not very often
