I do not consider myself a Hippie, although I share many of the good qualities with "Hippies" and a few of the qualities some may consider not so good, I still don't like the connotation it has. Lots of people can speak of peace and love, but not a lot of people can live peace and love. I am not claiming to be perfect here or anything, but I wanted to start a discussion about the "double talk" as it has been called in some other threads. In reality we all come from this messed up world, and most of us have had experiences that alter our brain development in one way or another as children growing up that inhibits us from being the supreme loving beings that the potential of human kind has at its finger tips. What do you think? The hippies you know, do they talk the talk and not walk the walk? I have met some that can walk, and a lot that can talk. I don't like the label personally, I just like to be me, a Human.
I wonder if there are bible-thumper wanna be posers... that's like the only label that has no "posers"... ever notice that?
I like you already, you seem very real. Lets go back to the beginning, shall we. When we are in the womb we are given everything we need without having to do anything for it; warmth, food, love... and nine months later we are pushed out into this cold clamy food where we have to cry to be changed, cry to be fed and cry to be tended to at night. We are subconsiously under the impression that we are not worthy of love and that we have to do something for it (and other people have to stuff for our love as well). I believe "hippiedom", as some may call it, is a way to break free of this false notion. Its like the song says "Come on people now, smile on your brother, everybody get together, try and love one another right now". When I think of 'hippie', this is the general thought that comes to mind. Unconditional love. However, some may argue that "hippidom" is about acid and pot and sex with strangers and protests but I think those are all just byproducts of a movement where the message was love and peace.
Why thank you Nathan, I'm feeling in such a loving mood right now! I would give you a great big hug and kiss if I could! MUAH! I LOVE YOU ALL! I mean it too. You all give me so much hope for the world that it almost brings me to tears, so thank you.
Actually, its not that well said. I re-read it and instead of saying clamy world, I say clamy food. Its really quite funny!
I've seen people at school, several in particular that come to mind, that are like that. They act like they're good Christians but when it comes down to it they are just the biggest fucking hypocrites ever, but then again, most Christians I have met are like that. Most, not all.. We were doing the Crucible at school and this one guy wouldn't even read the word "whore" because "it's not in the bible." Man, what a moron. I know this guy personally and he says far worse things than "whore." He simply wouldn't read it because he wants everyone in the class to think that he is a good Christian. So, in my opinion, he is a Christian "poser." But he's just one of the several I've seen acting in this manner. Maybe it's just here?
Lol, it is kinda funny.. in a sad, pathetic kinda way. I don't see why anyone would feel the need to do something like that. Ah well, I suppose they are really that desperate for some form of acceptance. Man, people just amaze me sometimes.
You know, its funny that your friend wouldn't say 'whore' because it wasn't in the bible when the bible is absolutely full of stuff like it. I mean, come on, what about Sodom and Gemorah! The actual word 'whore' may not be in the bible but words that are synonymous in definition certainly are! Damn bloody hipocrits! GAH!
Sort of like how Mr. Nascar worshipper from Mississippi says they're good loving christian people yet if you piss them off they'll start yelling "god damn it"... Oh what tangled webs they weave when what they believe isn't really what they believe...
Tell me about it, my mothers family is full of baptist preachers and preachers wives, which is why she ran away from home. We're the dreaded heathens!
My great-uncle was a lutheran minister and he was "in the closet" or so to speak. He drove around old Packards... he was a doctor as well.
