im 14, and i was homeschooled untill i enterd 6th grade, when i enterd 7th grade, i had already been beat up so bad i was coughing up blood, some of my freinds had KILLED THEMSELVES, i had been SHOT AT, i had received several death threats on email, and a my best freind and his family (4 year old sister included) was all jumped by a gang at my school with bike chains, the result: my freind is now deaf out of one ear and is now socialy unable to do anything. because of all this (half the things i havnt even said) i am now a very disturbed, angry teenager. my psycyatrist is contatnly concerned over things i say, i get beat up like evey day, i have no freinds now, i baisically have given up in life, ive thought about suicide and i hate my life. what i am protesting here is somthing that is causing half the teenagers in america to be like me. i am protesting the other half the american teenagers who are making me feel how i feel now. teenagers have always been mean to eachother, and parents think that everything is like how it was when they where growing up, but sometime between now and then, somthing major changed and now we have kids getting murdered and shot at, we have school crimes, we have the most horrible acts of violence being comited by teenagers against teenagers. im not sure what it is, but somthing needs to change.
half of you probably are not aware of any of this, is happening because you dont go to school anymore, but its a real problem.

Highschool is torture. I wish there was a way to change it, but kids are cruel. The only consolidation that I can offer you is that it will end. You will grow up, and many of them will too. Just don't let it define you. I did, and now I'm paying the terrible price of trying to get some sort of self esteem. I believed what they were saying. I accepted the torture as something that I deserved. Don't do this. My trouble was mostly psychological, some violence. Yours seems like a lot of violence. It's harder to ignore. Don't let them beat you. I can tell from this one post that you have a fire in you. (I'm really not trying to sound cheesy here) You see the realities of this world, but you also see the way that it could be and your willing to take the stand to make it that way. If this world is ever to get better, it needs people like you. Don't sell yourself short. If you put your mind to it, you will do great things. But if you allow yourself to be crushed, if you believe that you are worthless, than that is what you will be. You will be like your friends who have commited suicide, just a kid who died young. Be something great. Stay safe...

You need to start homeschooling again!!!!! Why did that end? Try very hard to find a way to go back to that. Because you are now learning ONLY how horrible public school can be. Better to learn actual EDUCATIONAL things, before you end up in jail or overdosed.

listen, we have been fighting as hard as all hell, to get things to change in public schools since the 1920's when, the ACLU (american civil liberties union) was founded. it has been one god damn road block after another that keeps being put in our way.

i work for the ACLU. just this past week, i recived a telephone call from a mother, whose daughter is getting the shit beaten out of her everyday at school. they do not live in the area we serve. i directed her call to the chapter that serves her area. i heard, that our chapter in her area, has filed a lawsuite aganist that school district, for not providing her daugher a safe environment to recive an education.
now the adminstration of the school district, wants to take action to protect this girl. before her mother contacted us, the district officals were saying "we got a school to run, we can't take time for just one student." this is all to common in schools accross the u.s.a. just as you pointed out!

go to this website www.aclu.org then go to the section of the website that deals with student rights, and learn what actions are open to you. if none of these things help you then, i recommend you contact the ACLU chapter in your area and explain your situation to them.
nothing major is going to change in the public school system until the ACLU or, some other civil rights organization can find a case from someone that we think we have a chance of taking to the supreme court. winnable cases are harder then all hell to find!

Another problem, from the school's point of view, is the funding. Budget cuts are happening like crazy in the school system. How can a teacher or principal do anything when there are so many students and so few teachers. But everything else seems more important to the government than our youth and future. It's a terrible reality that are teachers are stretched to far and can't do the job that they got into teaching to do. You help one student and end up neglecting 40 others. It's just wrong.

that is pure bullshit! even when i was in school the managment was crying 'the sky is falling!'
they can help him if they want to... they just don't give a shit about him that's all.
in school the only kids they care about are honor roll and jocks because, they can use those kids to "move up the career ladder." all other kids only matter because, each day their at school the, state pays money to the school. that is all management cares about!

i do agree that SOME teachers do give a shit and fight like all hell to help the kids.
the vast majority of the best and brightest, that do go into public school to help educate the kids, wind up quitting after just a few years.
the best and brightest kids and teachers drop out and, that is also true for the best managers too.
the public school system fails and punishes creative and unconventional people. it rewards mediocrity.

my corncern is for his welfare first and, he and his parents need to take steps to protect him from harm.
how in the fuck is he or, any other kids, going to get any type of education if they are scared shitless of school? THEY WON'T!
the school system WON'T protect him... THAT IS HIS PARENTS JOB! if his parents drop the ball to protect him then, he has got to protect himself by getting legal help from a civil rights attorney.

Why is it, do you think, that people go into an education career if they don't give a shit? The money? They care, but they are overwhelmed, especially in a big city. You think the teachers aren't scared for their lives? Yes, parents need to protect their children. But no matter how hard you try, you can't protect your children from everything. The OP doesn't say why he had to go back to school, instead of continuing homeschooling. My guess would be that the parents could no longer afford it, couldn't afford to not have one of the parents not working. Many parents all over the country are having to pick up more work to get by. Because of the lack of enough teachers per kid, you do unfortunately have to stand out to get attention. Be a really good student or a really crap one. Mediocre and quiet kids are not seen. You gotta be a squeeky wheel. It's nobody's fault and everybody's fault, this is not a problem that can be easily identified. Kids are angrier, more violent, and then you have to look and see what has caused that. Our school systems need a reworking, but who knows if even that will help. It's a big problem that you can't just say, it's the parents, the teachers, the GD media. There're too many contributing factors.

as a person that's unemployed due to a sleep disability,i'm free to do as i want on a daily basis so i browse the stores and do alot of shopping and just hang out alot of the day.i have the chance to see up close what society is like up close in it's face everyday and it's extremely disturbing. most people work everyday and don't have the chance to see the world (society)up close day in and day out like i do/. i sleep til 2pm and go to bed at 6am.so i see the night AND the day world.what i see is so disheartening.people have become rude, arrogant, opinionated and for the most part we've become an anything goes society ,disrespecting rules of the land.living in an apartment complex one can see this first hand.loud boomcars, residents partying all hours without respecting others,etc..it's not just apartment life, even though apartment life reflects pretty well generally what society has become. i don't sense that things will get better. sad but probably true/.and what i see is only a small part of the problem.god forbid anyone ever make a list of it all.

That's our unfortunate America. I cannot express the sorrow I feel for you, no one deserves to fear for their life in their teen years. Get a band of people from the internet to call them one by one and threaten to band together and kick their asses harder than they ever did yours. I'll participate.

The kids that decide to pointlessly injure their peers have likely not yet been exposed to the wisdom contained in this thread.

They must simply consider why they do what they do... what has possesed them to believe its "funny" to injure someone... something has certainly "possesed" them indeed.

TV has now raised every living generation - each consecutive generation has been lost more to the media...

We must promote logical thought, we must not regurgitate what we have been fed...

We must create, we must not be created...

I can offer no solution to the original poster, I can only say that you must examine your situation and focus on how you can most positively effect those around you... know that if you can even begin to crack open the eyes of one of those peers who seems only to love torture and misery - if you can shine even the most dim bit of light in their eyes.... you may have saved a girl from being raped, a guy from being stabbed, a grandma from crying because her grandchild promotes her misery... heck, you might even save...

    The world :)

I was scarred by what happened to me in school. and yes, kids are cruel and they have lousy parents.
I see no accusations being levied against those who screwed and brought these monsters into the world, just the overwhelmed school system.
How about fining the parents if their kids are charged with bullying?
and witchcraft helps keep bullies at bay.
