I actually don't think that would be too bad...I eat raspberry chipotle sauce on my burgers sometimes, lol.
Aw mama, the nesting begins. You sound so much like me. My husband is grateful for every meal I make, always thanks me. I take that for granted sometimes. But what REALLY makes the meal a success is when I can get all three of my kids to clean their plates, because that is no small feat. I've found that with my kids their most favorite type of meal I make are stir fries. Who'd have thought? All those veggies, so healthy for you, and my kids actually love them.
Well if anybody likes my food, I feel happy because Im such an inexperienced cook, but it's tricky cooking "family" meals, we always need to modify the flavor of the food. Now I understand my mom's frustration everytime I only took two bites out of my plate and decided I didnt want anymore. I love stir fries so much. I havent made one in a looong time. Maybe tonight, John got all kinds of yummy Asian sauces and I think we have enough veggies to make one. Veggies is something that Jack doesnt really like. I sometimes sneak them, but it's hard to trick him with those. He just leaves them on the side.
Yeah, I've learned to modify things in my cooking with say, how spicy something is. J and I love super spicy foods, but of course, the kids aren't really big into that. So I usually split the portions when intially making it, add more spice to ours, make it mild for the kids. We have a bite rule at our house. In order to be excused from the dinner table they must have at least tried one bite. If they want dessert, they have to eat the number of bites according to how old they are. My oldest has to eat at least 9 bites to get dessert that evening, the twins, 5. More often than not, they'll end up eating more, which is great! Yeah, I truly was shocked that my kids loved the stir fries because normally they're kind of picky when it comes to veggies. But they're getting much better as they get older. I just keep offering them a wide variety of veggies, and over time, they've taken to them. More than likely Jack will come around as he gets older! Funny thing is the fruit. My oldest son and my daughter will eat any and every type happily. My younger son is super picky about fruit. He'll only eat apples, pears, grapes, and watermelon. Nothing else. Although I guess that's better than none, right?
Aww boo! Someone deleted my dinner thread. I was gonna post my favored stuffed chicken breast recipes.
