I made a big dinner for us tonight. I feel so good about it, not because I made it all from scratch, but because Jack NEVER finishes a plate of food, unless it's chicken nuggets, hot dogs or mac and cheese. Also he got a BIG plate of food and didnt leave ONE bite. I did make mac and cheese, but not from a box, and I made these super yummy potatoes. The only thing that were "pre-made" were these veggie Italian sausages http://www.bigredkitchen.com/2008/04/easy-mac-and-cheese.html http://thepioneerwoman.com/cooking/2008/06/crash-hot-potatoes/ I usually get all happy when John loves the meals I make, but seeing Jack being enthusiastic about a home meal and eating so much made me feel extremely good And our house is looking nicer everyday. John set up the wooden blinds in the living room and I love them too much and he put together Soph Soph's crib. Everything's great, got no complains. My belly is very happy too and Im thinking of ice cream , should I dare?
aura you are champion homemaker! and go for the ice cream...duuuuh you are pregs, you have the best excuse.
and on the topic... i love homecookin' ... i feel weird if i don't make something every day. pregnant lady cooked food is the best!
YUMMY!! Those potatoes look good- I love pioneerwoman recipes. Getting the kid to eat things is always the trouble. I made veggie loaf, mashed potatoes and corn on the cob for dinner
Cooking is something that Im still learning, so whenever Im cooking something completely from scratch I follow recipes because I get scared of screwing up. I think pregnancy has me in a baking mood, which I havent really done yet, but will start soon. We'll all get fat here
I love her recipes too. I found her blog not too long ago and I've already made two things from there. I think it's hilarious how she explains the process. The potatoes were not only yummy, but super easy to make. I didnt use fresh rosemary though and I sprinkled a bit of cheese on top like 5 minutes of taking them out of the oven, because we love cheese here. I always get sad when I make something and Jack takes one bite and decides he's not gonna eat more, specially because I've been wanting him to expand his diet for some time now. So you're a vegetarian too? If you are, do you feed your kid an entirely vegetarian diet?
We made the huge batch of cinnarolls to give out for xmas they were awesome I kNOW ! I am just happy when I can get Rory to TASTE food anymore.. she is getting better about it- the toddler years were rough. yes , hubby and I are both Veg.. she eats what we eat for the most part- but if we are out somewhere (grandparents, restaurants ect) we encourage ,and allow, her to try other foods, make her own choices, yanno? - for the most part she thinks the idea is gross, she was really sad realizing people eat "pretty fishes" the other day, but she likes chicken nuggets.
How old is she? That's exactly how I plan to be with Sophia, it makes sense to me that our kids eat what we eat. It's just practical. It's cute though about the pretty fishes and the chicken nuggets. I have to agree with her fishes are way prettier than chickens, except little chicks, those are cute.
She is 4 2 and three were the rough picky eater years, hard to get her to taste new foods. Now, she will actually taste things before she decides if she hates it at least.
We always have to trick Jack into trying things. Like last night I told him the potatoes were french fries. He also loves "krabby patties"
Me too! Daniel is such a food critic, so it makes me feel sooo good when he likes it. He's like a real life Chef Ramsay...but you know, he sugar coats it a little since he still wants to get laid every now and then.
