my last period ended dec 23.
i had unprotected sex with my boyfriend on jan 1.
    i haven't had a period since.

i've always had really irregular periods, so i didn't really think anything of it when i was late, but since i had had unprotected sex i took a pregnancy test anyway. it came up negative.

i took another one mid-march, which also came up negative.

in the last week i've been having what feel like the onset of really bad cramps randomly throughout the day, but i've not seen any blood. i also have a sharp pain a little to the left of my right hip bone whenever i cough, laugh, and if i exert that part of my body.

i don't have any insurance, and i don't really have any money.

i don't know where i can go to get medical advice.
can anyone give me advice on where to go/what to do/what this might be?

also, i should probably mention that i'm pretty sure i had a "chemical pregnancy" five years ago, when i was sixteen.i don't know if that could have any bearing on my present situation?

A womans cycle is extremely sensitive, so there could be a myriad of reasons why you may not be having your period. The first thing you should do is go to a professional to see what could be wrong, and to take a pregnancy test at the doctors office..just to rule that out completely. Even having sex can delay a girls period, especially since you are already irregular..plus all the stress of, well, not having your period!

There are some natural things you can do to try and kick your body into sync so that your periods will begin again. Parsley Tea is one. Vitrex, a supplement that helps to balance your estrogen and progesterone levels could also be helpful to you. Some have also said that Ginger, or Ginger root helps to speed up the cycle.

But definitely try the Parsley Tea!

Oh yes! Also...about the no insurance thing...

There are options. I am sure there are local options through either a free clinic (health clinic) or at a Planned Parenthood who will do everything on a 'based-on-income' basis! So fret not in that department because there are options.

thanks for the replies. i called planned parenthood and explained my problem. i told the lady on the phone that i had taken two pregnancy tests and they had both come up negative. the lady on the phone asked me if i had any sex in the last two weeks. when i said yes, she told me that they couldn't give me a pregnancy test if i had sex in the last two weeks, because it wouldn't be accurate and the only thing i could do was make an appointment to get a pap smear which would cost $130. that doesn't make any sense to me, because i haven't had a period for three months so if i were three months pregnant why would it matter if i had sex in the last two weeks? she really didn't explain anything and when the conversation was over i just felt more confused and lost than before. this really sucks and i don't know what to do.

I had no period for 8 months. I went to the gyno and she put me on progesterone for 10 days to see if that would make me menstruate. it didn't. I did have blood work done, and it revealed that many of my hormone levels were low. but i didnt go back to the gyno or my doctor. months later, my period came back. i attribute it to stress and hormonal fluctuation

parsley tea and vitamin c will most likely make your period come back, but make sure something more serious isnt wrong. Chances are you are not pregnant since the tests have come up negative. You could, however, have polycystic ovarian syndrome, which can cause irregularities and painful cramps (more then usual). OR You could have an ectopic pregnancy (as in the kid is in the fallopean tubes and implanted there). It doesnt matter when you have had sex last, it makes no bearing on the pregnancy test. The nurse was a moron. Also, check your stress levels. Stress can prevent periods. If they are generally irregular, see a doctor, there may be an underlying cause.

I am in the same boat with the no insurance and know how much that sucks. I generally look up solutions online. If the pain in your side persists, go to the ER.
