Scene kids

Come on people we starting to sound like all the old fogies the old hippies railed against........Come, on people take the piss out of hippies/Goths/Grungers/Metalheads etc in EXACTLY the same way u guys are taking the piss out of the scene kids.

We're all part of an alternative scene, and kids especially like a group to belong to while they're finding out who they are.....and in your teens you have a social choice of the mainstream or the alternative....

I think these guys today are so lucky........When i was at high school in the late 90s, it was a bit of a deadwater for an alternative scene and I waas trying on the Goth thing and bein the only 'goth' in the whole place.......I would have LOVED a subculture in the school of freaks and weirdos that I could fit into, as I NEVER fit in with the mainstream, trendy types, even when I tried.....

I was a total weirdo and got bullied to buggery, but these days in schools their is a wonderful, vibrant alternative scene of kids brought together by their fashionsand musical tastes, and a feeling of 'apartness' from the mainstream crowd......If any of them get picked on for being different they now have the security of a great friendship base of like minded people.

So you may take the piss, but diversity is wonderful, and anyone in any alternative culture, whatever it is, whether its hippy, punk, emo or goth, should be in my opinion reading from the same script and supporting the wonderful diversity of all that is alternative.

Maybe you were on the wrong school because the 90's had at least as much of a vibrant alternative scene as today.

Diversity can be wonderful, but it clearly can bring forth an annoying group as well. I think many people put down a certain subculture for the wrong reasons, but too be honest nowadays alternative scene (and especially the emo kids) are irritating me as well. It just contains so much lame elements. I don't put those kids down though, since they don't bother me directly.

Its true your prejudice of something you dont understand makes it seem like a scene kid fucked your g/f or b/f. I know first hand how they act I was there from the start of that scene and I saw it get taken over by shitty music and greed. Before the kids started taking fashion into account it was an amazing scene full of friends. I never dressed like they did, I was there for the music. I met alot of the bands of that scene did many interviews and took many pictures. The general consensus among those type of kids very elitest, but to say that you werent in some way shape form or fashion when you were a kid is ridiculous. They are looking for a way to fit in sure they are going to extreme and some will snap out some wont but let them do it and leave them the fuck alone. Most are already generally picked on thru out their lives a good reason to go into a counter culture scene. I see them doing no harm to you so why the hate.
Also its better then the culture of ghetto ass pieces of shit. Most of this music will actually instill value in a person there is a lot of it about respecting yourself and your friends, not cheating on girl friends, the world being a wonderful place... These are generally depressed kids and now instead of turning to marilyn manson they are turning to indie music and emo music which does not create little monsters. like mainstream rap and some metal heads.

Seriously get with the program you are part of the neo hippie movement just as dumb as the scene kid movement. It is my opinion that anyone who now claims to be a hippie probably has no idea of the values that were instilled back then and has no idea of the culture it created. Your attack on a group of people is just like the attack on the hippies back then. Especially since your s/n has possibly IMO the worst subculture involved Ravers. dont know if you loook around you when you do go to raves. Those people are more cliqueish and dress way stupider then any scene kid I have ever seen. Not only that but their entire style of culture is completely fueled by drugs.
Not to mention it is a completely consumerist culture and everything you outlined up there can be applied to candy kids. In fact your s/n to begin with is a quandary think about it hippies, who did not like materialism and urged people to return to the earth. Or ravers, who go out and buy the stupidest out fits to dance in (no offense anyone) tons of glowsticks (completely made of chemicals) Paint their faces in uv sensitive paint (thick amounts of it) wear wigs of different coloured hair or dye their hair diff colours. Buy tons of diff coloured bead bracelets to wear on their arms.

How do I not know of the rave culture. Since I have been attending raves from the time I was 14 on. I go for the music I do not go for the culture of people I see there as where I am the people are as I said fueled by drugs. Even at the rave I went to last saturday spring love in Austin Texas it was a silly situation.

 

Everyone's bashing the styles I think look really cute. Well, except the emo look that was also described in the scene look. But I love kandi kid ravers...they're so bright and adorable. And I fucking love kandi bracelets.
