suppose someone commits a crime, and their only options are life in prison, or the death penalty... which would you choose, and why? and which do you think is more "humane"?
Well - people don't usually have a multiple choice - the courts decide - if the crime was bad enough and in that country/state there's a death penalty - there you go. The toughest thing is the electric chair - I heard if the electricity goes down - they finish you off with a candle.
i'm not saying they have a choice. i'm saying which would you prefer and why? and which do you think is more humane? i'm not talking about death panalities either, i'm just asking a question in geneal regeardless of the details...
The only crimes that should even be punishable are the crimes against other people, and the government should have no say in what sort of punishment the person receives. I'd say that the victim or the family of the victim should be able to decide what the punishment should be, and they should even be able to carry out the punishment. For example: If someone kills a woman(wife, mother, daughter) then the family of the woman should be allowed to kill the offender, if they choose to.
yeah like rapists, and sexual offenders, they should just be trapped in a room with the family of the vctim for 24 hours as punishment. i'd skin 'em alive
...maybe they should have a "wheel of fortune" in court. You're only 11 years old, stole an apple and you wind up with a lethal injection. Then this guy who killed, ate and raped a nun (in that order) get's 10 hours of community service...
...if you're starting to agree with me - there's something wrong with me...or more wrong than I thought...
I am anti-death penalty, so I am going to have to go with life in prison. Although I think most people can be rehabilitated and don't need lfie in prison.
me personally if those were my choices,i would choose death. i am not a animal to be caged.. i do believe if i was given a life sentence id find a way to kill myself.. or make sure someone else did the job for me. life aint worth livin in a 6x8 cell.
unless they're sociopathic and don't feel guilt, empathy, etc., but are really good at faking it. i hear sociopaths are really good liars and they can frequently fool even the smartest people. makes me feel less bad when i realize i just got took.
I'd choose the death penalty over life in prison any day. Prisons are not cost-effective, and are filled up anyhow. Plus, they only train people in crime, instead of rehabilitate them. Kill 'em all, I say.
Death penalty. Why should the community be forced to support the one who hurt them? Just crack open his ribcage with an axe and pull the fucker's lungs out.
Death would be far more humane than life in a cell, and if I was given a life sentence I'd end it myself. Life is meaningless if you're robbed of your freedom. But, I think the penal system is ridiculous and like BSR said, it only serves to further harden criminals.
The Death Penalty in eyes is more humane than a Life in Prison. However if I were the judge I would ask the convicted how would they like their poison, slow and rotting or quick and painless.
