Earlier I was jammin and my cell rang. Keep in mind that I don't own a car. I picked up the phone and it was a computer saying 'This is the final notice for renewal, the warranty on your vehicle has run out. Press 1 to speak with an assosiate.' Just for laughs I pressed 1. after waiting a bit a woman picked up and asked me if I would like to renew the warranty on my vehicle. I said 'I have 9 cars, wich one is it'. she said 'I don't know, all I know is the warranty ran out on one of your vehicles' so i said 'You stupid bitch, how do expect to issue a warranty on a vehicle that you don't know anything about.':toetap05: she hung up on me then. So guys watch out for this scam. people trying to capilize on a bad economy. Anybody else been a victim of a scam or attemped scam... post here
I signed up for a two day trial from this internet service called "Download bay" when I was carelessly searching for Dreamcast game downloads - it was supposed to be a $2 charge. Next day I check my email and I have one thanking me for signing up with "sleezyescortservice.com" and a $60 charge to my Debit card. I got the bogus charges cleared up but I still get about 10 spam emails a day with subjects such as: Petite Brunette Babe Annoy Cake I am frightened what can people do with ladies! Sweet babes in wild action with animals Hilary Duff's breast implants fitting hidden pics Dalmation getting a blow And so on and so forth. Honestly I don't mind that much because all of these emails are coming from spain and are full of amusing grammatical mistakes - my favorite so far is the "I am frightened what can people do with ladies!" one.
I do not know why the US government does not crack down hard on these scam companies, there are so many.Hopefully the new administration will take stiff action against these criminals. It seems there are alot more crooked businesses out there than just 5-10 years ago. With all the deregulation that happenned is it any wonder?---Anyhow NEVER deal or do business with ANY company(I don't care who they are) that does not have a "street" address and a working phone number where someone answers the calls.--And call that businesses number before even thinking of dealing with them.
www.ripoffreport.comI'm not one that likes to post links but that is a helpful site - Before doing business with any company you are not familiar with you may want to look them up on that site.
They also didnt mention a company name wich is another sign it is a scam. And it was a private number calling.
I've been hearing about the car warranty scams. My brother gets stuff in the mail all the time. If you get calls or mail for it the best thing to do is just contact the company that you have the warranty through. They'll be able to tell you every thing. Most scams like that come out of Africa. It's hard for the US to do anything about it. My aunt got scammed by a fake e-bay site and bought a car. She got really screwed.
Just for kicks whenever you get junk or scam mail, write on the left side of the UNopened letter "Return To Sender" than put it back in the mail box.It works,it gets sent back to the company. And you probably will stop recieving junk from them.No need to add postage either.
If the US "wanted" to they can put an end to ALL scams and crooked businesses within a matter of weeks regardless of what country it originates from.
The problem is, it's usually from regular people. Not companies. Just people who are sick of living in so much poverty and look at Americans as the rich greedy people that have more than enough to spare. Which in many cases is true (another topic). It's not ever organized crime. Just people, like you and me. It's hard to stop that.
I hear ya.But if you take a quick look at the link I provided a few posts up,most of the "scam" outfits are American companies. These American companies are far worse than organized crime.Hey,at least the mafia has some integrity.lol----As far as scams coming out of lets say Africa, one example of a few, those are basically 'small' time con-artists,a problem yes-- but a very, very small problem in comparison to UNregulated American companies that have been 'allowed' to run rampant.
i have also received phone calls from this company. though it was probably almost two years ago now, and they do not call me anymore. =)
Yea i`ve been getting calls from them and i dont even have a car. They always call with a different number from different states.
