Fucking cool! I have an exotic tropical sickness. Another new experience! I am okay right now but the 8 hours or so of chills followed by high fever sucked. It was hard to move or do anything. I almost collapsed 3 times toady. So I have decided this Malaria thing sucks. I am going to the hospital in the morning. It was strange talking to my farm manager today. I told him what was going on and he is like, "Dude you have Malaria." After experiencing this I must say I do not recommend this experience to anyone.
I was wondering if you'd gotten malaria or something since you haven't been around. Looks like you did. Shit. I've been coughing up shit for the past two weeks if that's any consolation and I spent last Monday night in tears because it hurt so bad to lie down because every sinus in my fucking head was throbbing and I couldn't sleep. Uck. But you know...that's still not malaria. So...get better soon? lol
Man that blows I hope your body fights it off well. Good to see ya back, hopefully the jungle wont be to much harder on you.
Thanks for the comments and well wishes. I actually have been absent here becase Spring is real busy in the seed business. But me experiencing chills and fevers with the realization that I should be in a hospital but was not able to drive was kind of trippy. I actually did not have the physical ability to roll a joint until after 6 pm. I will be glad to put this experience behind me.
That's awesome. Not that I wish you any harm. I think you're a stand up guy, I just think it's really exotic and cool. I'm sure you'd disagree, but you got to take the bad with the good. And there in the jungle? Life sounds good. Feel better.
Well in the past I could not say that I had an exotic tropical sickness. Now I can If I can make it through the night without chills and fevers, I will be a happy camper. Malaria strikes hard in the first 24 hours. Then it appears to get better. But strikes again 48 hours later. I am glad I am taking care of this. If there is one thing I have learned in the jungle is that you have to have a sense of humor, plus a lot of weed helps. I love my life now. I am thankful for all the good things I have. Malaria will end up being just one more interesting experience.
Whoa. Were you taking antimalarials? Is this the recurring kind of malaria or will you be home free after treatment?
You can count your lucky stars that they have developed ways to treat it. There's a famous entomologist here in Chiang Mai with a private museum(in his home) containing his collection of millions of bugs, butterflies etc. He has also captured and documented the 432 species of mosquito in Thailand, discovering 16 of them himself. He started collecting bugs after surviving a bout of malaria in the 1940s when he was only 9 years old. The treatment back then included daily piercing of the skin around the anus with a sharpened twig from some kind of lemon tree. See, don't you feel lucky now?
Sorry to hear that UA I've heard malaria can be a right bastard. I think there are various different strains of it? Do u know which one? Hope u get well soon.
HAHAHA. Oh, for anybody who's interested, here's a link to an article about the museum and its owner. http://www.thaibugs.com/Articles/Sightseeing Treasures of Nature The World Insect Museum.htm
gosh I wish I could have gone to Thailand Well I am in China, I will be sure to drop down during a break!
