    Right..
You all called me paranoid before when I said about broken hairs, well I think my constant backcombing from 7 months ago, has finally started showing it's damage.
On the dreads that have stayed as one (haven't congo-ed etc/split) the hair folicles (sp) have starting sticking out the dread all over (the lil white bits from the roots), they aren't actually connected to any part of the head, so I have loads of random hairs sticking out now that are loose which I can pull out of the dread, but the thing is I have about 7 dreads like these and their whole surface is covered with these dead loose hairs:(
    What options do I have?
I hope that makes sense, I am not over reacting, they could be split ends?
I am just worried that I'm losing too much hair out of alot of them!
    :) *hug* Ta

ok wait, you have loose hairs in your dreads with follicles on the end? dude, thats what happens when your hair naturally falls out... all dreads get these as they mature.
when you get dreads, you dont stop shedding hair... but it has nowhere to go so it chills in the dread. this essential to healthy mature dreads btw.

so when you pull the hairs out, are they full length or little broken ones...? long ones with follicles on the end are normal and good. little short pieces indicate damage (ive never seen these except on felted locks).

I don't think you need to worry about it too much, I've got some of them I'm sure. I just had a look, but I can't see any at the moment, but I think that's the light. I've definitely seen them before on my dreads and nowhere near where there's any backcombed hair (I'm not sure I have any backcomed hair on my head anymore). Do you root rub at all? If you've been doing that excessively then maybe that might have caused some damage?

All in all though I don't think it's anything you need to stress over really, the pics of your dreads look fine to me.:cheers2:

I have loads and loads of follicles sticking out and that includes parts of my locks that grew out years after backcombing. It's not correlated with damage, your hair is fine, relax.

Yep I have them all over the place too and I'm definitely not planning on worrying. Do you have plenty of hairs attaching your dreads to your head or are they hanging on by four strands?

I have it too;)it's not a problem Alex.they'll prolly get sucked in over time. It's food for your dreads, all the hair that we used to loose in the shower or while brushing it now staying on your head,in your dreads so they'll get thicker and thicker-yeyyy!

yeah, i felted my friends hair with a felting needle and it caused uber damage with little broken hairs that fall out. it breaks a ton of hairs.
