    The vibes is great.

I've been the last two years and plan to go every year.
I would have been pissed too if I was in nitrous ally last year though. It was insane in that area. I was close by, so it was nice being able to visit if I ever wanted to score anything. People would even come up to the tent with stuff too, so you didn't really even have to do that. A lot of molly near my area, and pretty nice buds too....some hash, but it looked better than it was. Definitely acid, shrooms, dope, rolls, etc. etc.

There was an incredible thunder storm on Saturday morning that scared the shit out of me. It started while I was waiting for some friends to show who were just coming on Sat. and I was alone in the tent. I had tripped pretty hard on some cactus the day before, and it's hard to sleep late there because of the hot sun in the morning, so I was tired. At first I was like...this will be fun, I'll smoke a bowl. After a while, the thunder was so incredible and the wind was so hard. Lightning and thunder were simultaneous. When I peeked out, there were those canopies blowing all over the place, tumbling around. I was sure I would get hit by one. I was too scared to leave the tent and go to the car even though I was wishing sooo hard that I was there and it was just a few yards away. The wind was so hard, I was lying down trying to hold down the tent. Just when it seemed like the wind couldn't get any harder, there would be a gust that was even stronger. It really seemed like it was a hurricane or something, and being so close to the water made it seem like it was a serious threat.

It was incredible...just thinking about it now gets me worked up. There were areas where there was at least a foot of water afterward and some stayed near the main stage where kids played for the rest of the day.

It was also a little bit too chaotic figuring out where to park. The people working there were a little pissed too. I talked to some and they complained that their bosses were all tweekers....which explains a lot. The normal gross bathrooms, but there were some trailers that weren't so bad, especially if you went in right after they cleaned them. They kept up pretty good. I didn't bother with a shower, but they did have them.

Definitely arrive on Thursday if you want to camp. My first year I got there Saturday and they weren't letting anyone in to camp with their cars anymore and we had a 4yr old kid with our group. I pleaded and mentioned one of the organizer that I had talked to through email who told me we could get in to the Family area on Sat, and someone who knew who I was talking about finally gave us a break and escorted us in with a golf cart. That really saved the weekend for us. (Definitely go the the family area if you have kids with you, it's much calmer and people don't do much out in the open.)

If you can afford a VIP pass, it's worth it. I can't, but a friend said he may be able to get me one because he knows some of the organizers. I'm getting a regular ticket in case that doesn't go through though.

That would be cool to meet up with other hipsters....there's a vibes forum on their website, and they meet up, but I've never been that active on there so I haven't done that.

It's definitely a very cool place. People are respectful to a certain extent and the security and cops seem to respond well to that. Hopefully the organizers respond to some of the negative feedback they got last year and try to get things a little more under control. I think part of the nitrous alley thing was friends of security and organizers, and there may have even been some bribery....which is bogus. It seemed like they did bust some sellers, and I wondered if it might be because they didn't pay up, because there were others right near them that didn't get bothered.

The only really bad thing that happened is that one of the vendors backed over some young teenage kid last year who was there with his dad. He lived, but was pretty badly hurt, and it seemed like the vendor didn't take responsibility.

Be ready for chaos, and mayhem, and fun. It really is a different society in there, and the freedom can sometimes make things seem foriegn compared to regular life. But it's an incredible experience that I wouldn't miss for anything.
