So, any social revolution that wants to be sucessful and, hopefully, peaceful, there has to be clearly defined goals and a positive edge. Not just lists of complaints and things we dislike about society, nor just pie-in-the-sky ideals that aren't all that realistic (however beautiful they may be). We need a positive message, something of hope and beauty, and something attainable. I don't think a violent kind of revolution would work, because it's just the same old thing with a new ideology to make it look like it's good. I think any truely successful revolution would be peaceful, something people want.

So, what are our goals for our revolution? I am hoping for serious replies, not shit like "lets blow up D.C. and have a giant orgy in front of the ruins" or whatever. I really want to know what our modern group of hippies on these threads want and think we could have.

Slowly weed out the bad ones... We need people like us in office, any office it doesn't matter how low, we can work our way up... Basically strangle the system... Also we must plan ahead....

Information flow. Broaden the flow of good info to the average person. Although alot of people seem to get the truth it doesn't seem to be widespread. Sometimes it just seems like a whole lot of "preaching to the choir". There's alot of good people who would never click on something called 'hippyland' (no offense :) just an observation) or pick up a copy of something like Adbusters. So, the flow is circular. Perhaps taking it one step further and producing some sort of publication that could be locally printed and distributed in communities all over the globe. Definitely something that would fall within true journalistic standards. I can see it now, the mysterious newspaper that's popping up in towns all over the world. It's easy to make paper racks and set them out. Just need enough people to do it.

I think you have a good idea. Internet better than paper though I think. Get people connected to the internet. They kind of have to go on the initiative reading themselves though. Good start.

Why not both? Lots of newspapers and news channels on TV have websites too. Information is definitely an important tactic, but where are we going with it? That was my main question: what is our goal for society?

Revolution is war. I'm talking about attempting to fix our current system.

For an immediate goal: a better educated society. I know there are groups out there that distribute re-built computers to low income areas and third world countries along with the know how. Some are breaking open the boundaries to countries that just don't allow it etc... I guess my take is that the info source in the countries that already have it is so convoluted with commercial interests ( and so huge) it's hard for the average person to get past the morass. The idea above was just taking it to them in a massive effort. A central group to collect the info and put it into a 'zine/newspaper form for download to others who can reprint and distribute all at once all over. That's how the national papers do it. They've got printing presses/distribution centers all over the country. Maybe put an article in there somewhere about how to find stuff on the internet?

Revolution= a turn, thus~ a turn-around in how society operates. It does not have to be violent to be a revolution. I'm also definitely talking about peaceful revolution.

Yet, none of those require violence. Peaceful overthrow via voting.

For a more open society, it is a big world for everyone. It would be nice to have a global community instead of nations.

I could see a Canadian saying something like that. Although I guess we have our fair share of them down here as well.
