How long has he been in treatment for this disorder? It often takes quite sometime to balance the medication and therapy to get the person back to a "normal" functioning level.
I've been to the mental hospital 3 times - for schizophrenia - and recovered, slowly but surely, all 3 times. The thing is relapses happen periodically so it's hard to predict how well you really are. I pretty much had to take meds no matter how bad I hated em...
my neighbor is bipolar. she seems like a somewhat out there mother, but to me she seems functional. No real answer here but idk
Answer is still yes. However, the last resort if things do not, is almost always electro-shock. They have refinded the teatment a lot and it can mess you up for a little while but recovery is very successful.
its just a system of punishment and reward. it would work with anything like that. it could be baseball bat treatment and work the same. also im bipolar and i consider myself pretty normal. ask him to share his thoughts often, thats the thing with me, ill think the most crazy thoughts are normal so ill talk to people about them and have em tell me if they make sence.
my ex is a whole load of mental disorders, bi-polar being one of them. after dating him for about a year, but knowing him before this all happened for about 3, i think i can safely say he will never go back to how he used to be. i wish you better luck than him
it really depends.. some people recover from bi-polar.. others are too deep in the hole to get out.. everyone's brain is uniquely theirs.. and they all act differently to meds.. i'd say his chance of becoming "normal" again is indeed never gonna happen.. he has a mental condition.. can he become functional? sure... but i'd say its about 50/50
The way I think of it is that everyones brain is different, everyones personality is different and everyone thinks differently. To try and alter that with meds is to try and alter the way someone thinks. So isnt that changing who a person is. Im not really explaining myself as well as I want to but thats basically what im getting at. Of course I dont know how people with this sort of mind frame think but then again no one knows how anyone else thinks so how can you prescribe medication in the hope that it will help them. On the outside things may seem normal but on the inside no one knows what is happening...I dont believe a lot of mental "disorders" are wrong, just doctors and psychs trying to explain what they cant understand and "fixing" it with pills. But then there are the real crazies who are a real danger to themselves and others...but what makes us so sure that theres not something wrong with us
