Cannabis affects many different areas of your brain, at least one of which is responsible for hunger. Just as you can 'feel' that time is going slower, you can 'feel' hungry from a drug, no mystery there.
i don't always get hungry from being high. as long as i eat before i smoke i'm good but if i'm hungry anyways and start eating i can just eat and eat and eat. i think it's because your metabolism is higher
I've heard it can lower your blood sugar some, but I'm not sure. I personally don't ever physically feel hungry when I'm high, unless I was before I got stoned. I just really want to eat, I also don't really get full when I'm stoned. I think getting the munchies is just like wanting to listen to music high or fucking, pot just makes those things more fun so you have more of a desire to do them.
my own wacky theory is that we in general are undernourished, meaning that we don't get enough vitamins and what not due to the average western crappy diet. Perhaps weed exposes unnoticed needs such as for more nutritious food. People who really eat foul stuff are constantly hungry because their body keeps asking for the right stuff but the person keeps putting in bad stuff but the only way the body knows how to indicate lack of nutrition is to keep manifesting the feelings of hunger. this might explain getting sleepy from pot too, we are also underrested and the weed points that out too. I don't really get the munchies anymore 'cept for way late at night and it could be because I'm already putting the kind of nutritious food in there so there is no latent need for nourishment that needs exposing.
hmmmmm this is really interesting. because i have found that if I eat foods low on the glycemic index, meaning they don't cause spikes in your blood sugar level, i have great comedowns. but if i eat lots of sugars and breads while high,,, my comedown can be really looong, drawn out and tiring. hmmm i feel like i might be on to something. anyone else realize this?
weed release acid to burn the food you have in your body so it requires you to eat new food... not to mention it burns your brain, if you smoke a blunt to the roach it MAY burn your hand and if that slips into your throat it may burn your throat. Many risks come with using marijuana. DONT DO IT!
Faster metabolism sounds right. Most people genuinely feel hungry when they're high, it's not just like they feel like eating. Usually it's the latter for me. Sometimes I really don't feel like putting things into my body when I'm really high. I feel like it could be too much.
That's the dumbest thing I've ever heard. Crappy Western diet? America is the only country in the world where people die of obesity because they don't stop shoving food in their faces.
Most of these people die because they're filling up on unhealthy foods and not getting all of the nutrients they need. Just because Americans eat a lot doesn't mean they have a good diet. Don't say something is stupid if your own point sucks.
That makes a lot of sense, i think i'm gonna have to agree with you on that lol It would totally explain why if you eat crappy foods your body is still hungry and you're like constantly eating them, cuz they are not nutritious and it wants some good food
The natural cannaboids in your brain play a role in regulating natural hunger, combined with the fact being high increases your sense of taste, it generally winds up at the bottom of a bag of chips. Same with memory, the natural cannaboids play a role in making you forget things you don't need to remember(such as the color of a shirt the person passing you on the street is wearing) and I'm assuming being high turns this into overdrive
All the scientists understand is that the hypothalamus is linked to eating behaviours (among other things), and there are a lot of cannabinoid receptors in that region of the brain. Also cannabis lowers blood sugar levels But what does this really mean? It just means that increased hunger is an effect of cannabis! and thats all there is to it! lol without research into cannabis, it is hard to understand whether it affects the desire to eat, the feeling of hunger, or the desire to taste... or if these things are even different things at all..
