hey guys.. the other day when i was at the chiropracter i started talkin to a guy there and we got into discussion about painkillers. he told me that he's been on one dose of 40 mg's oxy in the morning and again in the evening. but he's been on this same dose for 10 years! i just don't understand how his tolerance is not threw the roof. in a matter of 5 months i've gone from 20 mg's oxy a day to 60-80 mg's a day. i realize tolerance is different for everyone, but this just sounds crazy. just wondering if you guys have any explanation for his tolerance being so low?

He's probably not chasing the feeling, but just happy to have the pain relief so he hasn't increased the dose. Believe it or not, I've encountered people who just don't like the feeling of opiates but will take them if they have to. Did he say he felt a mental effect after all that time? After the same dose for that long, you'd feel normal on it and your body would even overcome some of the pain killing properties, but it's still doing something! I've messed with opiates for both pain and pleasure for about 8 years and if I'm steadily on them, my tolerance goes up, but over a long time line, my tolerance hasn't really increased. I can still feel a single vike or even a T3!

I've been on 60mgs of oxy and 70mgs of Norcos for 4 yrs. Yep the same dosege. Never upped it. it works just fine.,Well till a month ago when I had to get a new doctor..
The docs say you can stay on that same dose for along time if taken as perscribed.. He also told me he knows when people are abusing.. They come in, in withdrawl and every few months they say hey man these aren't working anymore.LOL
    Big give away

Age is also an important factor. My first pain management doctor told me that younger people raise in tolerance faster than older people. Also that older people actually get to a point where their tolerance no longer raises. I've read it in other places as well though I don't have any links or material saved to reference.

thanks for all the info guys. i really had to idea about older peoples tolerance raising slower or even stopping. but obviously it'll go up faster if abused, i'll admit that i abuse them from time to time. especially when i was first put on them. im scared to abuse them too much now because then my tolerance will sky rocket and the doc may find out..really don't wanna take that risk and be back in pain..
