It still fascinates me how this manages to lock up...but it does! Logically I would never have thought that a couple of inches of hair, secured at both ends, could become knotty. The frizzies must have a lot to do with it; all those new baby hairs, surely, weaving their way in and joining things together. Cool. Dready ramblings
Definitly agree with that how strange it is. It doesnt feel like it can move about a whole lot but apparently it can. Still want these damn baby hairs to quit being rebels and join the groups hahaha.
Yeh every now and then my roots seem to go through a tight phase, where they hurt a bit and I get patches of dry skin from the sudden reduction in movement. They must need to grow a certain amount before they can start tightening themselves or something.
hmm mine never have hurt but the logistics of how it works isnt such a mystery when the hairs comming out of ther scalp theyre orderly all lined up like lllllllllll but where they meet the dreasd theres disdorder like /xvywxzvuw hairs facing every conceivable direction this causes the lllll hairs to be of slightly different lengths as 1 gets pushed that way> and another that waty< and a third ^ and a forth z zig zags between them all the small variations in length cause lil loops that intertrwine them i think even without any movement, if you built s frame attached to your skull keeping the dread totaly motionless the movement of slow hair growth would be plenty to compress knots into eachother (but if the frame disdnt alow movement outwards (outwards as in alowing the dread to slide out as it grows) too the knotting would ocur towards the scalp then once too tight againstthe scalp press outwards from the dread) a simple way to see how easy it works is if u have a loose strand of hair..just tie a knot in the end..then watch as the knots opile up on teachother from theyre towards the roots
I think a lot of it has to do with the fact that the hairs you shed are not able to leave and the root end twists and tangles up with the hairs still attached.
