>_< Oh jeez. I racked up huge fines for not returning books on time. I have no excuse why, either. They've just been sitting there on my desk. And a few of them are totally hanging out in the front seat of my car, waiting to be walked in to the library and returned. Normally, I am not very good at returning books on time. I have no idea why. It's always been the case for me, going back to elementary school. But at most I'm a week late returning them or a couple days. This time, I've gone nearly 3 weeks without returning them.
damnit so do i, 70 fuckin dollars, i checked out some books and hitched down to florida with them, unfortunately didnt make it back to ohio until they were almost a year over due haha, but they kept me company on the road
Totally. The fines are like, obscene. >_< I shouldn't take out books because I can never return them on time.
wow, "huge fines" for 3 weeks? lol the late fee here is 10 cents a day. how many books did you have a dozen??
I remember years ago the fines were like 5 cents a day. Now it's like 25 cents each day overdue. A couple times I have purposefully "lost" books that are rare and hard to find. Once or twice I keep books so long that I ended up simply buying them.
>_< Yes. I have about a dozen. It's up to at least $80 right now. I took them out from the school library.
Ugh. 10 cents, I wish. They're like $1.50 a day. Also, I took out books from the Law Library this time, so they are uber strict about them and have steep fines for not returning them. I also borrowed from interloan library, and so I have two books from the University of McGill.
what i do now is just go to the library and reads there since i have to pay 70 bucks to check shit out, so i read there and hide the book when i leave so no one checks it out and i can pick it back up the next day... haha!!!
This is something that I definitely need to do. And I need to learn to use the Public Municipal Library more than the one at school. You would think I would have learned this by now. How can you expect a person to pay $80 in library overdue fines? Srsly.
a simple I was in Jail excuse will reduce the fine to nothing.... If the jail is to much . say you had a nervous breakdown and was in the hospital. and thats Confidential information...
No late fees at the library here.. and minimum wage is almost $10 an hour...$9.80 and the squirrels behave themselves https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lzQgAR_J1PI&feature=rec-r2-sdig&et=1237108492.49
I owe about £2. I feel pale in comparison... But I managed that by not taking out books much and renewing online. Oh yeah and there's a 5p per day fine.
Wow, $1.50 a day? That's ridiculous. Our library charges 10 cents a day, and a dollar a week. And the fines NEVER exceed the cost of replacing the book.
our uni library was $2 a day, i think... im terrible at remembering to return books. i wasnt so bad with the uni ones because, well, id procrastinate with writing/researchign until a day or two before the paper was due, and return them the same day as i dropped off the paper i am a little leery about renewing my public library membership since i do suck so bad at returning books, especially good fiction books that i get all into. on the other hand, fees are still cheaper than buying new books
my school does that too. you can't register for next semesters class either they tried charging me for a book i had returned. like $40... i told them i wasn't paying it because i had returned the book already. turned out it wasn't logged back into the computer for some reason, but it was returned to the shelf. was a book you could buy for less than $5. forty fucking dollars. fuck that
I never check books out because I always had late fees. I returned books to the public library and I haven't been back. I usually do that and just get a new library card. The power of cleavage kept me from paying my $30 fine at school. Gotta love freshmen that work the library desk.
