I'd be more worried about the mushroom spores.

They're inside of a syringe with a lid screwed on the tip. I wouldn't think they would be affected.

Ah yeah maybe in that case. I wouldn't know, I've only ever gotten them in syringes.

Dumbass it doesn't matter what it's in if they irradiate the package the spores will die.

Wow this will probably put a huge dent in the mushroom indsustry, since most growers get their spores by mail.

I don't think it applies to Fedex and UPS at this time.

Anyone who already grows would just make their own prints. No big problem there. Just for the newbies.

Radiation technology is meant to kill bacteria in packages that are one half of an inch thick or less; with a quick flash of radiation (not like they're cooking it). This means that anything in an average envelope would be affected, considering that anthrax attacks are what brought this to the table. Any time I've gotten spores they have been in a syringe, which is wrapped in thick plastic and inside of a small cardboard box. Make sure you know what your talking about before you come call me a dumbass...

As for the other two methods of high pressure sterilization and gas treatment, neither would affect something that's inside of a sealed container, and neither is getting much consideration anyways.

I am calling you a dumbass because it is obvious you are, Irradiation will affect mushroom spores, if you have any experience with reviving irradiated materials you would know it just aint fucking possible!

What the Feds have done and what has been posted on the interweb is nothing to work by, get with the picture.

except what hes sayin is they won't irradiate the packages. One and a half inches or less get irradiated. Mushroom spores are usually shipped in boxes a little larger than that

Last I checked I never gotten spores in a box under three or four inches thick, much less under half an inch thick. That means that they wouldn't even go through the radiation process, much less be affected by it. And if your going to say that the information posted on a government website isn't anything "to work by", then what exactly is? Do you really think the EPA would blatantly lie about this on their own website, when they know that thousands of people send legal, legitimate packages everyday that would be affected and/or ruining by the process?

I think it's you that needs to get with the picture; the government is messed up in a lot of ways and it's far from perfect, but to dispute what they say right off the bat, simply because you don't trust them in general, is pretty ignorant. And again, thanks for the continued insults...
