http://www.beadzandblingz.com/servlet/the-1203/OLUCHUKWU'S-STICKY-SHEA-BUTTER-dsh-NATURAL/Detail has anyone used this stuff or even ever heard of it before? is it any good? my locks are around 3 years old and ive been using pure coconut oil on them to stop them getting too dry but i was wondering if shea butter would work better, i done a google search and found this, tell me wot u think?
is their a better alternative though? someone must have a secret dreadlock formula for tis sort of thing, i just spent the weekend driving from england to france then belgium and then holland and everyone over their seems to have really nice moisturized looking dread sand its definatly not just wax in their hair, ive been using organic pure coconut oil and it works wonders, i actually love the stuff and it really puts some moisture back in ur locks, plus it smells great but i just wondered if theres somthing even better or if there just using coconut oil aswell, ive noticed though that people in different parts of europe seem to have a different way of going about things, for example they dont use any dreadlock soap or anything special, just the regular cheap shampoo from any supermarket, im considering using some plain old regular shampoo on my dreads, and ive even seen that a member on here (worldpeace) only uses regular shampoo and she is from holland and her locks are very similar to mine in hair type, colour and thickness and they look really nice an healthy please give me your views especially people with older locks 2-3 years+
I swear by aloe vera. I have very dry hair & skin and it works wonders for me. BTW my locks are just over 4 years old.
I used normal shampoo with my first set. I had been told to use non SLS formulas but they never lathered up well. I never had any problems with normal shampoo but I ended up finding the perfect shampoo. I have no idea how (danes?) have such nice looking locks. Maybe you should try and get in contact with them and ask? I dunno. All I can really say is just play about and see what works for you
helodreadhead how old were your dreads? did you ever have any problems with mold or damp or residue from the normal shampoo? im gunna go and wash my hair with some regular shampoo tonight and see wot happens, sorry bcmama i wasnt trying to say you had young looking dreads you look very beautiful
it really doesnt seem to matter what shampoo or soap you use. any soap ive used has left a residue on my scalp, and i rinse well and have soft water. i dont personally use sls products, but i know plenty of people who do. its just personal choice.
I never used shea butter but i hear good things. For washing, I just rinse occasionally wth water. I dont use shampoo or soap and I like texture of my hair. It's very dry and theres almost no oils
ive just rooted thru my bathroom and ive found some johnsons baby shampoo, it says on the back its residue free, i am thinking about trying it but does anyone ever used it and have any experience with johnsons baby shampoo, i just wanna make sure theres no serious reason why i shouldnt use it
4 year old dreadscan handle most anything minarte alnmost 19 years i use aloe alot well not alot as needed i wash almost exclusively with the baking soda deep cleanse from the wax sticky i use cocoa butter at times and every year here they have the biggest odunde fest in the country..thousands and thousands and thousands of dreads and yea u see a ton of shae butter being bouyght never tried it myself but would love to
If you would love to use shea butter, then use it...I'm pretty sure that you posted you had some sitting right there, but you forgot to use it when you did a big aloe dump on your head, right? Or am I confused....again. Goes to re-read posts.... ETA: Nevermind, it was cocoa butter that you mentioned before. They're pretty similar, so cocoa butter should do the trick for ya.
Only thing about the baby shampoo...doesnt it also say no more tangles, no more tears????? I dunno been a few years since my babies were babies
