hey---I have 100 wooden beads in my new babies and i;m getting ready to wash my hair..so some are not tight enough I have to keep pushing them up to the roots..So if some fall off I want to try sewing some beads to keep them separated...Any tips! Thanks....

Umm...well I don't really know about the sewing beads thing. When my dreads were new I didn't want to put too much time into solutions that wouldn't be permanent. If you're just looking to temporarily separate them, e.g. until they're tighter, you could always just use some twine. Sorry...I know that wasn't helpful...I was just watching your thread slowly sliding down the page with no replies. Hopefully when someone sees my crap attempt they'll provide something more helpful :p

thanks for helping me..I am doing them permanetly its just that my hair is down to my knees and i want them to be beautiful...i was thinking maybe a bit of hemp to help hold the beads up in some spots until they fatten up but i wouls want to remove most of this stuff after they get a good start..i dont want 100 beads and string in my hair permanently..i dont think...

I found that my beads fell off in the shower whether they were tight or not. I wouldn't sew the beads in if I were you. I sewed a few of my dreads together aages ago, 3 months ago I undid them all and I'm still finding thread everywhere :(

If they fall out, you can just put them back in again after :) I think its a little effort that goes a long way, instead of suffocating your dreads with thread :)

And anyway, you won't need the beads on forever, and It'll be more work trying to get the thread out of your dreads when you're fed up of them than putting beads on and off when they fall out in the shower- trust me xD I spend days taking all of the thread out of my dreads and I totally regret it.

Learn from my mistakes!! Hehe :)
