Ok. I don't like hardcore kids or hardcore music for that matter. But I find it infuriating that all of you fuckers that have posted on this thread has agreed that anything "core" is shit. Even deathcore? Shit, it's fucking hard to find a death metal band these days that isn't somewhat deathcore.

I mean it's just incredibly close minded. Designed for stupid people? Like as if all these "core" bands aren't talented at all and therefore not metal. So in all respect to the breakdown and those have disrespected it with their arrogance on this thread...go fuck yourselves.

    Thank You and Good Night!

I think it's more close minded to spread your (and our!) dislike for hardcore music to their listeners as well and call them hardcore kids. Thank you too!

Whatever. I'm talking about being open minded to good music not ruthless pricks. And I'm pretty confident in saying that much of *the hatred for core music here is somewhat due to a dislike for the culture assosciated with it.

I'm not really familiar with the metalcore-culture, but when I talk about music I try to see this things apart from eachother. So don't speak for everyone.

I used to have a better idea what Metalcore is, but honestly I just like anything that sounds good to my ear now. I used to know what each genre sounds like but now I'm kind of lost in the mix and let people call it what they will. The founders of metalcore like Converge or Botch had some cool shit, but it did get really gay and generic pretty fast(See: As I Lay Dying). So there definitely is some metalcore stuff out there I do like, as with almost any genre, but I would agree with the statement as a whole that metalcore sucks.

    try some deathcore instead

    All Shall perish
    or
Suffocation - the pioneers of deathcore early 1990's sounds more like cannibal corpse/vomitory then metalcore shit

Hell yeah. All Shall Perish is one of my faves. There a good reminder that A LOT of Deathcore bands are very progressive. Wouldn't understand how any deathcore "is designed for stupid people."

metalcore sucks now (cause it's basically a radiorock fanbase mass appeal bullshitfest now)

but the bands who were part of making it what it is had some amazing material back when. I'm talking On Broken Wings, Hatebreed, Shadows Fall, Darkest Hour, As Hope Dies, Zao... all of those bands have since gone to shit, but before metalcore (or "mallcore") was the bees knees, there were a ton of late 90's/early 2000's releases in there.

I think it's closed-minded to ignore the possibility that whole genres of music are dead ends.

There is death metal that is not deathcore, these days. Try Immolation.

You can't generalize an entire genre as one inseperable object. I'm in a band that plays a mix of styles including metal, hardcore, progressive, jazz, and extremely mathmatical stuff. The type of stereotypical metalcore that I'm sure you're referring to is beyond overdone but at the same time theres a lot going on in the genre. When a style of music emerges, most of the people who accept it are the youth. People need to understand that Metallica and Slayer just don't do it for the music 'scene' anymore. Its no better and no worse, we're just beyond it and maybe we'll turn full circle someday and start at the beginning but they just don't sell like they used to.

MatchboxAwakening - Its not 'metal for pussys.' Its a different genre and no metalcore band is trying to play metal. If they were trying to then theyd probably...uhm...play metal? I think its terrible that you're stuck with the idea that all metal bands send out the same message and all '-core' bands send out the same message. That's completely untrue. A band is made up of real people, who each have their own ideas and input. I personally hate the whole heavy metal/death/gore/killing/blood message so many bands go for and just because a band doesn't want to give in to that message it doesn't make that band 'metal for pussys.' Sometimes it's better for a band to send a message they believe in instead of pretending to be emotionless and throwing lambs blood into the crowd. But I'm definitely not saying all metal bands are that way. I just mean metal music is even more played out and you shouldn't be so closeminded. Anymore you don't see many original metal bands, especially in the mainstream world. And all the good metal bands you do see are 25 years old and the same ones you heard way back. Music changes ove time and it's better to keep up with it and maybe be the one to say where its going next.

Oh and both Immolation and Testament show how uneducated you are in music in general. Its all personal taste and if you like those bands then thats great, but musically theyre the same thing I've heard a million times. The appearance of the band, the easy rhythms, the basic melodies, the standard time signatures, the countless simple blast beats (Immolation) and countless cheesy fast tempo drum rhythms (Testament) are all repeated relentlessly in every song. Everything is in 4/4 time with no variation or feeling to it.

No? I'm fairly confident those were two separate statements.

Its all personal taste and if you like those bands then thats great, but musically theyre the same thing I've heard a million times. On a separate but similar note, the appearance of the band, the easy rhythms, the basic melodies, the standard time signatures, the countless simple blast beats (Immolation) and countless cheesy fast tempo drum rhythms (Testament) are all repeated relentlessly in every song. Everything is in 4/4 time with no variation or feeling to it.

Are you now able to respond in an educated manner and relate to what we're discussing in your own thread? Feel free to continue mocking me also. I've made my point and if you're not going to argue it then I've said all i can.

    No comment on Testament.

You think Immolation is "musically" the same thing you've heard a million times?

Sounds like a false category to me.
