They've been on TV the past few days and what I don't get is why didn't Gandalf just get the giant Eagles to fly Frodo and Sam all the way to Mordor?
Perhaps the eagles wouldn't have minded an uneventful flight to Mordor but were not willing to risk a scrap with ring wraiths.
I am a HUGE fan of lotr. played the card game when i was younger, saw the movies over 50 times etc etc. i have heard this argument of why Gandalf didn't just fly Frodo to mordor. But NEVER have i even though of this reason, and it makes perfect sense also. So thank you for saying that, now i may defeat any Star Wars argument without question.:cheers2:
What? There's a card game? I may have read the books over 50 times, starting when I was in the 5th or 6th grade....the mid 70s somewhere. Not a big fan of the movies. First one was good, went rapidly downhill from there.
The eagles were proud creatures. Only Gandalf would ask things of them and they were very hesitant to comply for the most part.
To end this silly argument, with the Eye of Sauron watching all, it would have flat out not worked. The air would have been way too risky. They HAD to sneak the ring into Mordor. My two cents.
