I'm planning on getting a new tv soon & I was wondering what ones you guys think are good, not just for picture but for sound as well. Right now I'd either be going w/ the Samsung 32'' or 40'' just b/c those seem the best w/in my price range. So what all do you guys think are good all around HDTV's? Also what ones should I stay away from?

those samsungs with the piano finish border are actually pretty good for the price range, i'd get one if u could get a good deal

the best TV's out are Plasma's, specifically Pionneer Elite Kuro and Panasonic high end ones

but you probably cant afford a Plasma..

so i'd go with that samsung if u get a deal, a Sony if its in your price range, or maybe a Sharp

dont get below 36" imo, and DO NOT buy anything other then a 1080p TV.

    sony's are so expensive...too expensive.

get a sharp aquos ad if you go to a wholesale club i.e. BJ's or Sam's Club you can get a big one for really cheap. and then get a stereo system.

Depends...for watching movies??? Plasma absolutely...If you are watching regular TV, don't touch a plasma, they will be ruined within a month or so. (Plasma TVs get burnin and those little logos on TV stations will be visible on everything you watch)

But yeah, Samsung is definitely a solid brand - their TVs are second to Sony. Sharp is decent too. Don't go for any cheapo Vizio or Dynex shizz...but if you really aren't an HD lunatic, you probably won't see much difference when tuned correctly.

Basically - if you can afford a Sony - get one. Samsung? They are good too.

But also note the size of the room you are going to be in. There is such thing as too big and obviously too small.

For a normal sized living room, with say - 10 feet sitting distance...near 40" will probably be the best. Give or take...mostly take I'd say

CNET is not a good place to go. I used to as well, but I've read some really incorrect shit on their site about products before, and I know I had some other good reason for not trusting their reviews. I dun remember though.

Typically they have good reviews. I mean...to get a feel for it. And there are lots of customer reviews and it is good for comparing specs too (some stores don't carry all models)

Any thought's on LG's? I don't really know much about 'em, other than I had one in a hotel room recently, but the hotel didnt have HD, so it was pretty much a waste, lol. I did notice the sound was pretty good, I had it at about 5 and could hear it nearly perfectly.

I have an LG computer monitor that I also use for my PS3. It's pretty good as far as quality. I've had it for a year and the little LED light has since burnt out...I should have sent it in for the warranty - but then I wouldn't have had a monitor :(

But yeah, LG is pretty good stuff

How do you use it with your PS3? Does it have hookups other than DVI and RGB?

I thought you were going to watch something cheap. My sister got a 32" vizio for $400 at walmart.
