    some people keep a sense of victimhood alive when they're not actually being victimized anymore. but if they ARE being discriminated against then I think it's perfectly understandable that people will stand up and claim their rights and not put up with that treatment. Of course alot depends on how they go about it too... and their means & methods either reinforce the victim mentality or erradicate it.

    Give me an example of a minority which isn't statistically being victimized anymore? Jews in the U.S.? :eek: Oppression only changes systemically...it's not because dominant groups suddenly give up their privileges out of the kindness of their hearts.

    To say that raising the issue of racism is the cause of racism is the most comical case of reverse psychology and denial ever. Maybe poor people should start telling themselves they are not poor as a social mobility effort.

    I think Jews are universally looked down upon, just a bad reputation overall... sometimes well deserved, other times it's prejudice by association & generalization. Mostly covert though.

    I don't think they're looked down upon, it's more jealousy.

    The truly sad thing about is that,

    if the self-proclaimed Friends of Black American's (FOBA's) would ever

    JUST DROP IT,

    there wouldn't be any,

    'cuz folks are folks:

    We live where we've got to, for the most part, and if the 'hoods are neighborly, there usually aren't a bunch of problems, regardless of where you live;

    We work where we can get a job, with all sorts of other peeps, from all over the place, and we make friends at work;

    We seek entertainment, en masse, with little to few problems regarding this issue;

    and i think we ALL realize that we are all just men and women,

    and no matter where we started out,

    "You are HERE X "

    NOW.

    Think about it ~

    i couldn't imagine NOT having friends from whatever races and ethnic groups i'm nestled into.

    And how would one insulate themselves from the "enemy," as it were? :eek:

    Jealous of god's chosen people of course, where have you been living.
    As disgusting racism and hatred are, they make the world go round and round.

    They're a powerful, wealthy, strong willed influential race.

    That’s what everyone doesn’t understand; it’s a fantasy, it’s an outlet for pent-up emotion and aggression, a way to express yourself without doing harm to others unless they have unresolved issues :eek:

    when he said jealousy that could have been for a number of reasons, which is why I asked. :rolleyes: besides, I don't agree that anyone is jealous of jews because they're "god's chosen people". if anything I'd say people are resentful because some jews claim to be god's chosen people.

    I was being sarcastic.

    But anyway other than in the middle east, I have no idea why people in other parts of the world would be prejudicial about Jews, but I dont really care, every race or religion out there has been looked down upon in a way or another.

    For over 2000 years Jews have been the most hated people on earth; there’s got to be some reason why everyone reviles them :eek:

    Perhaps it's something about their genetic makeup :confused:

    Dear Prax,

    This WAS a spoof thread until the hippies got all uppity about the TRUTH. This is what happens when you have too many noobs around with a marked lack of sense of humor.

    But since it was taken seriously, I restated my position.

    OK everyone go back to thinking I'm a redneck just because I grew up in the south (a redheaded Ashkenazi Jew so I wouldn't know anything about discrimination).

    Bunch of tools.

    EDIT: It was a spoof of Purps "STFU about your dreads" thread.

    seems to be that way, overall.

    genetic makeup? what does that mean?

    Personally I think it has something to do with the claim to being God's chosen people... no one likes to be made to feel less-than or un-chosen. ;) Also there is something to be said for their quick rise to power in many of the countries in which they've resided. And I think they're generally known to possess intelligence, resourcefulness and financial ability. Cliche, but perhaps a bit of truth there.

    But I may still be missing the "real" reason...
