I really live righting however I have yet to actually finish any of my ideas. I get an idea so I start and spend all night typing away go to college/bed/someplace else and never get back to it. My biggest project is a Vampire story spread across the ages I have working on it for years but in the same method I have about ten separate chapters all spread out threw the story some of them variations of previous chapters. Am I the only one with a computer full of unfinished material any advice on getting around it?

I tell a lie I finished one short story (I can’t right short stories I get carried away) as an English paper but I wrote it in one session and have not read it since.

have exactly same problem. and cannot seem to do anything about it. !

got as far as a collection of poemy things, but took me a year... otherwise have scattered ideas, unfinished lyrics, random monologues, a couple of scripts, sections of stories all over pc...is disorganised mess.

u could start by putting things in folders..but am hardly an authority on this issue!!

maybe is a complex form of writer's block...fricking computers

Yeah I have folders for them all and not just on my computer I have sketches I made for technologies and allsorts all neatly put away but I just can not do anything with them once my original steam passes. Its funny I am not normally so organised. It is nice to know I am not the only one though.

If you have difficulty finishing things then choose shorter material for awhile. I'm 'kidder' on this forum but I have several nics I use on political and social forums on other sites and I find the discipline involved in writing short, punchy contributions extremely helpful- at school, in my papers, in informal debates and, yes, in my writing. Try it. Push yourself. It's worth it.
