I just finished Dan Browns The Da Vinci Code and I have to say it was excellent well worth a read. After reading it I immediately went out and bought Angels & Daemons and Deception Point. His books are fast, intense and very informative he blends fact and fiction beautifully. You can really tell this man investigates his chosen subjects thoroughly. I could go on for hours but I am going to close with two points. His unique righting style is excellent and could/should never be carried to film. So far I have read one and a half of his books and he has ascended to my top five authors.
I quite like the book - it's very intriguing and filled with lots of facts I had never heard of before - I think the writer's most amazing skill is in the way he manages to blend fact and fiction together, making it a very interesting yet informative read. What he's chosen for the plot just seems to be absolutely fascinating and easily understood by all sorts of people... I really like all the references to symbolism and cryptology and stuff The one thing that I don't quite like about it though is... I know it's a work of fiction... but some parts are just sort of predictable, if you get what I mean... when I'm reading it, it's evident that it's a work of fiction and couldn't possibly ever have happened in real life. It's an interesting work of fiction to read nonetheless... kinda like a fairy tale
Dan Brown is one of the best authors I've read in years. I've read thre out of his four books (haven't read Deception Point yet, no spoilers please) and they were all great. If you like The Da Vinci Code, you'll like Angels and Demons even more. Digital fortress is good too. I heard that they're coming out with a Da Vinci Code movie sometime next year, any guesses as to the casting? I'd go with Tom Hanks as Langdon and maybe Angelina Jolie as Sophie. John Cleese for sure as Teabing. Those are my guesses, everyone should post theirs. Alex
I've read Angels and Demons, it was really very good! I've been meaning to get it from the library again. My dog pooped on my friend's copy
What is the most fasinating thing is beginning to understand that many things that we call "traditions", that have been flowing down from generation to generation, are simply modifications to the religion so as to make the 'locals' feel more comftable with converting or living next to these people (there are many other reasons including survival and 'plots' as such but it is still fasinating". WARNING (story spoiler, dont read down if you havent read the book) If the whole thing about Jesus wife/concubine is true, then that creates serious issues in terms of the practice of christianty and some of the grounding of the religion (depending on how you define it).
Hello there, I personally loved the book, and don't be so naive to the power and influence the church has over things I looked up alot of facts from this book it is quite interesting. I will never feel the same about christianity.
