Acid/base, straight-to-base or FASA. Take your pick. Or, you know, you could just learn about extractions of alkaloids in general.
The straight to base worked out good for me. I yielded over a gram of pale yellow crystals from 100g of mimosa. It was my first time trying the extraction also.

i hadn't heard of the straight to base extraction before. i looked it up, and they claim to have higher yields than with other methods. if this is true, it sounds like it would be an effective way to get smokeable but rather crude DMT. as far as i'm aware, most of the extra yield would be impurities, yes? anyone tried it? if you have tried it, how did it compare to other DMT you've tried? my only concern would be not being able to reach the fully psychedelic states, the other worlds "beyond the chrysanthemum" so to speak i've not used isolated DMT myself, but mckenna has stated the best dose when smoking is three large hits, and that it's rather unpleasant to smoke sometimes and many people have trouble making it past the second hit. if this is the case, this is my concern: that the relatively minor extra impurities would make it a little harder to get to the regions of the mind one is hoping for, primarily that state attributed to getting that third hit...
Are you refering to the method i posted? It may not make a more pure product but it says you can keep rewashing untill it looks pure. It may cut the final product by say 5% but the extractions so easy you could make alot more alot faster.

with chemicals I would say for just 1 gram after all is done..On the cheap end and saying you have the crockpot and glass needed, for just the materials with everything having extra except for the MHRB. Close to $50USD. Then next time around just spend $75 on MHRB and you can get like 750g of bark. and that should get you closer to 3-4g of spice. ~$4.00 for Lye ~$2.00 for vinegar ~$32.00 for MHRB (200g) ~$8.00 for Naphtha ~$1.00 for ammonia ~$1.00 for DH2O(will need more for future extractions)
STB is definitely a lot dirtier. I've done STBs and A/Bs, and the A/B, properly defatted, was much, much cleaner than the STB. My preferred method is an A/B then a STB on the same bark.
