My dreads are getting so fat I'm struggling to get my head through collars. This time next year I bet I'll only be able to buy button up shirts. I counted my dreads the other day and I have 17 of them. I'm beginning to think they're too fat and wondering whether I should split them?
i dont think there's "too fat" ...its up to you. i'd LOVE to fatten my dreads up loads and loads, but theyre not even interested in congoing after like getting close to 2 years of no ripping -_- ...really into fattt dreads. wouldnt really mind something like that either: but i dont see anything like it happening
thats crazy phen! your lucky, I hate ripping there is one at the side and another at the back that has gotten quite big as it's eaten up all the baby hairs around them. They feel a lil uncomfy. I was thinking of splitting them but don't know how?!
I dunno what to do with them. I don't like how they look at all right now. I don't even know how to split them. I'm trying to ignore the wanting to get rid of them phase which is dogging me!
To split them I believe you just down a shot of whiskey to ease the discomfort and then RIP like youve never ripped before!. Perhaps using a razor to help split it at the ends depending on how thick and knotted they are. I wouldnt know from ezperience though....Im just guessing. Hellodread...your dreadies are beautiful! I would wait a month before cutting just to make sure thats what you really want before you do it. Post some pics!
Yeah I'm not going to rush anything. A few of them are starting to separated on their own. I've got this 4 inch dread on top of my head where it's come away.
oh hun, I wish you lived near me. I'd love to photograph you! I mean ripping would be hard and painful by the sound of it, so I'd down maybe the bottle of whiskey... how did they get so big, were you ripping? How many did you start off w do you know? I rip but dang when I leave it for a few weeks it takes soo long to get through them all and they have already started to congo a few inches
Well I got them done off this woman whose english was very poor. I told her I wanted really thick dreads but most at the back were like no bigger than 3 or four millimeters so I crocheted them together. But now I'm struggling to get in and out my favourite nintendo hoodie. I have extreme claustraphobia so when I get stuck I feel like I'm dying!! Aww thanks Luxie xx
Someone needs to design a special range of extra stretchy-necked clothing for people with fat dready heads!
I can't wear any because Steve, king of dreads likes to chomp on necklaces. They also like to eat my spiral ear plugs too. They're like ivy, growing thicker instead of longer and I have the most stupid parting causing one of my front dreads to quiff higher than the opposite one See? Gosh I'm really going through a hate relationship with them at the moment. I really want to be able to wear them over my shoulders but they're just not growing in length at all.
hellodreadhead, your dreads are beautiful. We all have bad hair days, look at how much they have come on since when you started. when i wear a tight necked top i find that the easiest way to put it on is to gather my dreads together and put them through the neck first then pull it over my head. That way your not trying to squeeze it over your head + dreads. Give it a go and see if it is any easier. peas Alex
I have the cant get through my clothes problem but ill give you a bigger one, i cannot get my bike helmet on anymore so i cant drive my moped!!! its gonna cost me over a hundred to get a new one but im waiting a little to see if they settle down at all, that way i wont have to get a smaller one later and spend more money
NP, you are insane^-^ if I feel like I'm looking shit I just take some photos swushing them about through light and next to trees. My husband has a collection of 'fugly photos' I look at them and laugh and feel good. I kid, I kid. Do I? Feel better HDH?
