i'm an idiot.. so on friday night me and my boys got drunk and we went to my room to smoke a blunt (i know.. really stupid). a cop comes and knocks on the door because someone reported us cause it smelled like weed. we didn't answer the door and he opens the door and i go out to talk to him. i got away with it, i didn't let him search the room and he couldn't do anything about it so he left. i just got a letter saying that i now have to go to a court type thing for the school because i'm on disiplinary probation. i'm already on residence probation for drinking last semester and i got caught propping an outside door while i was having a cigarette. so i'm in trouble now because 1. i didn't answer the door 2. use/possession of drugs (which they can't prove, the only thing they can say is it smelled) 3. conduct that ivolates residence hall rules 4. conduct prohibited by law and then it says "you are alleged to have smoked marijuana in the residence hall on blah blah blah" and "you did not respond to the request of university staff to open the door" they didn't give a date as to when i have to show up for the thing but it gave a time which makes me wonder if it's tomorrow. i just read some of the student conduct handbook and it said they give me 5 days so i'm gunna call in the morning. what should i do??!?!?!?!!?!? FUCK MY LIFE!

if there's no proof that you smoked in the residence tell everyone to go fuck themselves until they can come up with some hard physical evidence.... say you didnt hear the door because of music, or sleeping, or whatever.... or you could say you thought it was that creepy girl who's been stalking you....and you feared for your life when you heard that knock apologize for propping the door to smoke a cigarette as for the rest.................. deny deny deny and then make counterclaims about them or someone else
somehow everyone else that was in the room got the same letter, i dunno how they knew who they were. we're going with "we didn't answer the door because kids be fucking around all the time."
someone's a rat, find out who and publicly humiliate them.... well..... after the whole smoking in the residence thing blows over....
I think some of you guys don't realize that you don't have the same constitutional rights when you're living in a college campus then when you live at your own place. In most cases campus cops can search your room even if you don't give consent. Thats because you most likely gave that right up when you signed up to live in the dorms. I don't think it's fair to be calling someone a rat in this case. It's not like someone had to sneak around looking for someone to rat out. I'm sure the whole hall wreaked of blunt. Trying to pass the blame onto someone else in this situation is uncalled for.
the cop came to my door, he had the right to open the door possibly only because the RD was there. he didn't come in, he told me to come out into the hall. he kept trying to get me to let him inside but i kept saying no and he couldn't do shit about it. he even tried to get a dog but couldn't so maybe they have that right at some colleges but apparently not at mine
