Is it not possible that everyone has been duped into thinking pot actually gets you high? Is it not possible that the actions to smoke (breathing in superheated air and holding breath, etc....) and the smell of it provides so many stimuli that a psychosomatic whatsis happens? To put it simply---ain't it possible it's a placebo?
The placebo effect is a very exact science. One must be under the impression that what they are taking is the real deal; there's too many people who have probably tried it on accident and they feel the effects. There's no way it's impotent or a placebo. If it was, the government wouldn't place restrictions on it's sale or make it illegal.
No. Case in point: hash brownies. Feed a few of them to an unsuspecting punter and are they gonna have a psychosomatic experience? No. Are they gonna get high? Yes.
Actually the brain is much more complex than that. The hight is always a mix between several factors including, of course, the substance and dose, but also your mood, your environment, placebo effect, etc. etc. Pot certainly is potent, but to be honest I think there's at least some ''placebo'' effect to almost every substance and/or event. There's nothing wrong with placebo, thought, if it's positive. Placebo only means your brain doesn't need outside help from a substance. Placebo can become enjoyable, and we called it meditation. Ever giggled in the middle of an intense meditation? Well that's exquisite placebo effect for you.
Well, I guess, but there's no doubting Marijuana's potency, many people take pot brownies and still get high. The placebo effect will work to some extent, but it won't make a drug useless.
I smoked for almost a year and didn't get high, and thought it was a placebo. My first pot buzz finally came from eating brownies. But someone finally taught me a few smoking techniques and breathing methods and I finally got high. I just always thought pot overshadowed other herbs a little to much. But it still is my favorite drug.
