Ok, this isn't actually about "music" but actually about Jim Morrison poetry. If this in the wrong place, I'm sorry :( Anyway, does anyone else really like Jim's poetry?

I love his poetry. Some of it is hard to understand, but that's what makes it so unique. :)

Jim Morrison is a drunken buffoon posing as a poet........ I think lester bangs said that, and that is pretty much true.

    "Wow, I'm sick of doubt
Live in the light of certain
    South
    Cruel bindings
    The servants have the power
    dog-men & their mean women
    pulling poor blankets over
    our sailors

    I'm sick of dour faces
Staring at me from the T.V.
    Tower: I want roses in
    my garden bower; dig?
    Royal babies, rubies
    must now replace aborted
    Strangers in the mud
    These mutants, blood-meal
    fro the plant that's plowed

They are waiting to take us into
    the severed garden
So you know how pale & wanton thrillful
comes death on a strange hour
    unannounced, unplanned for
    like a scaring over-friendly guest you've
    brought to bed

Death makes angels of us all
    & gives us wings
    where we had shoulders
    smooth as raven's
    claws

No more money, no more fancy dress
This other Kingdom seems by far the best
until its other jaw reveals incest
& loose obedience to a vegetable law

    I will not go
    Prefer a Feast of Friends
    To the Giant Family"

    I love his poetry.

Hey, Lester Bangs also had his share of buffoonery. Haven't you read his book? You know...that one about menure? That was the biggest sack of crap anyone could put on pages.

His poetry is not that great. Most of his stuff I read and then think, "Gee, that wasn't as good as I expected." I think people just get caught up in the whole doors/jim morrison fad right now. I would ask them to name at least 10 other poets beside jim. That's not even a sufficient enough list.

I have all 3 of his peotry books. As a fellow poet (and Doors fan) I support him, but some of it is weird. Then again, would anyone expect anything less? I mean, this is Jim, & that's part of what made him famous. And yes, he's absolutly gorgeous...sorry, couldn't help myself;) (hehehe)

I think Lester Bangs is more of a writer than Jim. I love Lester Bangs.

jim morrisons poetry is really overrated, he could never even dream of being half the song writer, singer, artist or man that john lennon was

Even though I'm such a Doors fan, I admit that most of Jim's poetry is nonsensical ramblings. Well...it might make sense if you're always fucking stoned.

    Lester Bangs....hahaaa... :)

I beleive he had other spiritual beings working through him trying to deliver a message of beauty and the sins of the world but he could not deliver when he turned into a worldly drunken fool. He came close early on but lost it
