    haha...that's funny.

    I was at the bar the a couple weeks ago and I looked at this older lady, drunk as hell, and she points at me from across the bar. I turned away knowing what she wanted. Her brother came up to me and said, "Forgive my drunk sister, but she is dying to talk to you." So I went over to her and she asked if I had cornrows. I said no they are dreadlocks. She of course asked if they were real and if she could touch them.

    It amazes me how society looks at these things. If it would have been ANY other person without dreads, this would cross that line of a stranger invading personal space. I how rude would it be to anyone else if I walked straight up to them and asked if their hair was real and if I could touch it. They would look at me like im crazy. I find lots of humor in the matter.

    I tend to get things like;

    "Do you wash them?"

    Or

    "When did you last cut your hair?"

    It's really discouraging when people (usually blond girls) say things like "Wow, you should comb your hair!"

    I mean, seriously, the ignorance is astounding.

    Most of the attention I get is that I'm half black in a city where 99% of the population is white, though, not because of my dreads...Actually, I think most people who are curious about dreads are afraid to approach me. O.O

    Maybe when we see someone approaching us, and we know they're about to ask those questions, we should jump in first before they get the words out and ask them, "Is your hair real? Can I touch it? Do you ever wash it? How do you get rid of it?" :p

    Or, lol, "Is you hair real? Wow, how do you get it that boring? Do you have to take it off every night? Will you have to shave it off when you become interesting?" :p haha :p

    Why would you want to do that?
    So, you don't wash your hair?
    What if you want to brush it?
    Oh, and: So, are you partaking in the Rasta lifestyle now? (From my Dad. :))
