Hey! I got some seeds from someone. Now I have NEVER EVER grown MJ before so I thought that I should just stick the seeds in the ground and water it. Now it has been 4 days and nothing has happened. I shoved the seed loosely about a thumb deep in the soil. Since that DIDN'T work, I sniffed about on the net for a while, red some guides and found out that I didn't germinate the seeds before I stuck them in the ground. So what I did was the following: 1. I took 6 seeds 2. I wrapped them all in a moist cotton towel 3. I put the moist cotton towel in a air tight sealable plastic bag 4. Put the plastic bag-o-mj-seeds in a drawer Now in one of the guides that I read it said that it may take around 24 hours before the seeds begin to sprout, which leads me to another question. When the seeds sprout, which end of the seed should go in the soil first? The green/white part that grows out of the seed, or the seed? So which end up? Some other general questions I have are listed below: 1. When the seeds sprout, how long should I wait until I "re-plant" them in a bigger pot? 2. How much water does a newly sprouted seed require daily? 3. What amount of sunlight is required daily for a newly sprouted seed? 4. Does a seed that has just sprouted need alot of sunlight? If so, how much? Oh yeah, I am growing outdoors after the sprouts have become bigger, anything I should know?
1) replant when the roots have begun to coat the bottom of the container (it varies by size of original container) 2) water every other day, or possibly every 3 days. if water drians from the container, then you have given it more then enough. 3) as much as possible. minimum 5 hours direct + 5 hours indirect if you want anything half-decent 4) same answer
I have 4 plants growing outside. In the past month they have been oozing a black tar-like substance from the flower bud area....is this a sign of disease? Should I cut them down and start over?
There's as many guides to growing then ppl growing. Some ppl germinate in wet paper and some just plant straight in soil. Well root facing downwards a good start but if you plant when the seed just starts to crack open then just chuck them in there find there way. Germ can take 1-7 days at 60-80f never germ over 80 or expose young plants to high temps. After planting at a depth of half inch takes another 3-4 days to spout if temp rite but same as germinating the cooler it is the longer it could take, aww i love it when they loop just as there starting to show. Just a spray of water twice a day for seedling then after a week start watering when needed. Newly sprouted will take 18 hours of light straight from the word go but not to strong to begin with. And as for the out side thing just remember its a jungle out there lol.
After saying all that misleading rubbish i agree coz the information will always be straight to hand.
Haha, yeah.. I wish I had a book! haha... Id say use the paper towel/double plate germ method, and yeah, root down and as much light as you can get... goodluck, keep us updated both of ya's klondike you dont think a little water everyday for new sprouted ones is too much, cause sometimes i think every other or 3rd day might be a little too little... any thoughts? id say water if sunny and dry, skip if wet and/or cloudy but im not an expert, just like plants a lot, hehe
