Ok so I have been growing 8 plants for personal use and they are now about 8 weeks old under 24 hours of light....about 6 inches high ... Is now the right time to switch to a 12/12 to have them bud?
I'm not in favour of the 24 hour light way plants need to rest the darkness its just as important as light. What strain are you growing and where did you get them??? Coz if in 8 weeks under 24 light your plants have only gotten to 6 inches heigh then your doing something wrong or have duff seeds (over bred or randomly probably). Bet if u were to pull one up its probably got just a tap root and not much else. Plants mature enough to bloom when the leaf stems on the branches or main trunk start to move apart but the longer you leave it from that point the better the final result will be.
^^^ditto. Something is haywire if you only have 6" after 8 weeks. Decribe your set up in detail , what is your light source, what medium are you useing, what is your nute program? With more info mabey we can help you back on track.
Sweet ^^^ all the other things i ment to say. Just had a round of slow growers in a well proven set up but nothing that bad.
Ok my lights are "daylight" cfl's. I think they have enough light cause they are real bushy and lots of nodes appearing. My "nutes" as you say is Shultz instant plant food. They are planted in 4" pots, and I figured maybe they need something bigger now. The strain is...can't remember the name...but they are3 designed to be grown through the mesh....what do you call it SOG? But I am growing them free but trimming the huge leave to let light into the smaller nodes. The "dude" at the head shop where I purchase them told me they would be short plants with lots of nodes best suited to a SOG method. It's a very reputable shop.
Sounds like your over pruning to me ok ya rite to prune to shape your plant by letting the light down and in but plants need a few big leafs to fluel healthy vigours growth which is what your looking for from any plant you grow. For cfl lighting you need something in the range of 50-80 watts per square foot. The mesh method is called scrog or screen of green which is a few plants grown for longer and trained to follow a screen held above, large yield per plant. Sog method or sea of green is loads of plants grown on a quick time cycle small yield per plant. In a 4 inch i'd expect to repot at about 4 weeks or when roots start to just show out the bottom.
