Some not too hard questions on DMT... please help a brother.

Hey guys, i was reading over elfspice's guide on how to extract DMT, and i have a few questions...
The guide is rather hard to follow, so i tried throwing a smaller, simpler one together which is based off it, this is strictly for reading in my kitchen whilst making it and etc, but i still have some problems. I'm trying to follow the guide exactly with the following materials:
1. Cooking pot (NO ALUMINUM, Small soup pot.)
2. Glass baster
3. pH meter
4. Large glass jar (Test with turpentine to ensure the rubber seal wont dissolve)
5. Colander
6. Wire mesh strainer
7. Cotton, acrylic, or polyester felt
8. Coffee filters
9. Pyrex measuring jug
10. Drying dish (Glass baking pan, ceramic dishes, etc.)
11. Razor blades, scalpel blades.
12. An acid (tartaric acid, buy at grocery store)
13. Base ( Sodium hydroxide, 99% concentrated drain cleaner)
14. Non polar wash solvent (turpentine)
15. Extraction solvent (ethyl ether, automotive starter spray)
16. Recrystalizing dish (parabolic glass dish)
17. Recrystalizing solvent (isopropyl alcohol)
18. Dropper bottle (small glass container with glass pipette)
19. Nitrile gloves (latex alternative sanitary chemical grade disposable gloves)
20. Safety glasses
21. Root bark of the plant acacia obtusifolia

Sorry about the lots of shit to read, anyways, those are the specific things im going to use, and im having some trouble, what i can make out is basically:

Pulverize the bark until its dusty very fine mulch, take some water and add tartaric acid until its got a pH of 3-4, soak the plant material in the solution for several hours, or simmer it for 1 or so, pour the water from there into a seperate vessel, then soak the plant material again in water with slightly more acid in it 2 more times, combine all the water together in a pan and reduce on gentle heat until its around 1L.

step 3 is where i get messed up, what exactly is a seperating container and what is my aromatic solvent? im assuming its turpentine, correct? and add 1-200ml to the acidic extract, and gently agitate the jar as directed, but when it says repeat two times, does it mean simply adding more turpentine or is the vessel i asked about something special? could you please elaborate on this?

Also, at the end of step 5, where you seperate the ether from the basified solution, how can you tell which is which in the jar? will the ether seperate on top or what?

Now when you remove the stuff thats not ether, im assuming you take it and add a lot of water with a pH of 8.5-9.5 and agitate it for 5 mins, let it settle, and remove the water from the nonpolar extract (how do i tell the difference between those as well? im assuming the water will seperate and will look like water and the other will not??)

Then it says to combine the non polar extracts, what other extract is it talking about? Dont we just have the stuff you extracted from the last step thats not water... whats the other one? and put that mix in a drying dish, fan on it, wait until its pretty dry, take the concentrate and it says im supposed to BOIL isopropyl alcohol?? how does that work out exactly? what am i missing? i dont really understand the last step at all, could you elaborate on that as well?

I think you may find a better TEK out there, I may be wrong but Defatting seems to be not needed for Mimosa Root bark IMO.

 

Defatting isn't necessary, but it makes it way less cleanup, and when you recrystallize, you're not disappointed at the loss.

I seriously hope you're not actually trying this yet. Not trying to talk shit, since you seem to be trying to learn, but you're not far enough ahead yet.

You're not the only one man. I've always been horrible with science and comprehending directions. Fortunately, I was able to buy the stuff and have somebody else make it.
