Well today I finally decided it was time for me to quit cigarettes after almost 10 years of smokin'. I have a feelin' that this is gonna be hard as hell but I gotta do it, so that I can actually start livin'. Any tips or support would be real appreciated.
yeah try smoking different plants to ease your addiction to the cessation of the smoke itself....mullein, lobelia, daminia, or uva ursi (bearberry leaves). The natives used bearberry for kinnickinnick as their smoke, per se, being their herb of choice, or their tobacco alternative. My recommendation though-quit cold-turkey. It is imperative that you have a comfortable environment (free from distraction or constraint) that allows you to be at ease with your nicotine-free self. I too plan on quitting but I believe, even though I have smoked for around five years, that I can only quit in the wilderness-free from corporate, main-stream society. Soon I hope!
I recently have begun a shift using herbs as zephyr has suggested, peppermint, sage, catnip, and scullcap, elephanthead and the aforementioned herbs are good to experiment with... but I have noticed that ive slowly picked up the proportion of tobacco in my mix determined by stress or my situation or whatnot...regardless the herbs do help, so does being broke all the time! haha I havent found any lobelia but be careful with it since it is chemically the same shape as nicotine so it fills those receptors and if you smoke too much youll cough or vomit(kinda like nicotine eh?) but anyway check out this page...itll help a lot and its dope http://home.teleport.com/~howieb/smoking/smoke1.html g'luck
I also have smoked for about 12 years and i called 1800quit now and they will send you free patches or lozenges..it is helping me..I quit last month and i also gave up alcohol and all toxins...So when i am done with the lozenges i will be also tobaccoo free..They help break the habit and you don't stink of smoke...drink lots of lemon water...
