it doesnt really make a difference which country legalises it first so long as its a first world country. All countries seem to be like sheep, some are just slower than others.
Take ireland for instance, 4 million population but after we ban public smoking nearly every first world country does.

It will happen eventually and it'll have a domino effect on a lot of other countries
Then the reefer madness will take over :D

Would they really? How many kids start smoking pot because it's "forbidden fruit?"

I believe Holland's experience is that most smokers in Amsterdam are tourists, not Dutch.

True....I don't see legalization increasing total pot smokers that much, though. MJ prohibition does not seem to do much to decrease pot consumption.....

I think there would be a spike, as the ones who were afraid to smoke only because of the legal issues tried it, but that number would decrease. Some of them just wouldn't like it...

What's the percentage of Americans who are regular pot smokers now? 10%? 15%? I don't see that more than doubling.

And I guess a 50% increase would be "a lot more"....

Is it time to buy stock in companies that make grow lights yet?

    CounterTerrorism Strategies in Netherlands [1]

Netherlands believes that terrorist threats are largely intertwined with the international threat i.e., for example, if terrorists are focusing on American or Israeli targets, these targets are also in danger in Netherlands. “Islamist Terrorism is to realize a society that is in accordance with the fundamentalist Islamic polity based on the extremist nterpretation of the sources of Islam by means of politically motivated violence and threats of violence
“Experience has shown that Islamist Terrorists are operating thoroughly and patiently, and we can therefore expect the threat to remain highly in the near future. The waning vigilance that is creeping into the society in Netherlands is therefore undesirable and even increases the risk of a terrorist attacks. A recent development is the fact that cells within the network that responsible for supporting, preparing and committing attacks are operating autonomously than in the past. Another new trend is the increasing focus on lowsecurity targets”

I believe cali's deficit is ~43billion...legalization would bring in additional revenue of I believe 3 billion or some along those lines. I think roughly 8%

The over 21 thing kinda bites...

I think, as time goes on, we are heading toward full nationwide legalization.
I see the attitude of the people changing, especially after the whole Phelps bullshit.

It'll happen, it's just gonna take a really, really long time. I honestly don't expect to see legalization in my lifetime.

I dont think so. Were heading into a global recession thats supposed to last 10 years minimum, things are going to get much worse and as the governments continue to lose money and have to make cuts they're "drug war" will become less important.
So taking the money out of making busts on small time growers and dealers they'll more than likely be forced to decriminilise it to make up for the loss of money.
They will have to make money from somewhere and you can only raise the taxes so much before people revolt.

I think it will be legalised before 2020

    no.

Give it acouple of years and everything will begin improving. Recessions happen around every 20 years. Shit will get worse, but it will not be 10 years, no fucking way.

And i dont think that will cause decriminalisation, sure busts will be reduced, but i think those who will get busted will just face waaaay too harsh of penalties to try and put off everyone else.

in Uk weed got reclassified from class C back to B, even against all medical and scientific recommendations. This was fall last year.

we came out of the last recession in the early nineties thanks to the celtic tiger but our government is fucking useless, they're in the deep end and have no idea what to do. A few countries will be on top of it after 5 years maybe but for the most part we're in it for the long haul.

With the new countries joining the EU they will be getting a fuck lot of money from the EU and with a workforce used to living on 5€ a day and willing to work hard for long hours
will see a lot of major companies flocking there.
India, new countries given grants (not yet but in a few years) and china are going to have a boom in they're economies purely for that fact that they have 0% corporation tax for a certain number of years for all new companies.

The need for jobs here is insane. A McDonalds in Dublin that just opened put in a hand written notice in the window for 50 workers, by the end of the day there were 500 applicants, the majority of which were bankers, lawyers, company managers.
All people that wouldnt look twice at a McDonalds job under normal circumstances.

We dont notice because it doesnt affect us...yet
We're 17 we dont need to worry about so we dont see it but its happening and i really dont see things getting any better in the years to come

yes.. places are going else where because labor is cheaper... but they too will go under or at least feel a big hurt if the US goes under.. who makes up for all those imports when the US, the country with the highest imports, goes under? all those countries that depended on the US to export their products to, have to suck up all those losses and go under or find a new market quick
