okay well you know how everyone says that space goes on forever?? but people also say that NOTHING goes on forever. so if space isnt endless, then what is on the outside of it? and whatever that is, if it couldnt go on forever, there would be something outside of that. i want to know!
The universe is still expanding because of the big bang, into simply space, empty space were reality dosent exist. I hear its possible with enugh force and matter you can create your own universe.
It goes on forever, but it also isn't. Think of it this way. the earth is not infinite but you can walk and walk and walk and never fall off the edge, because it's a sphere. Now, Space-time is curved in a way that is almost impossible to imagine and harder to describe. anyways, I think it curves in on itself and that's why there's no end to it but there also is. By the way, the universe isn't expanding like a bomb explodes. There is no center from which it expands; everywhere in the universe is the center. No shit. No matter where you are, it would appear to you in every way that the universe is expanding away from you. It's generally accepted that there is nothing outside the universe, neither empty space or solid space. Just nothingness, nonexistence. "Outside the universe" is a senseless phrase anyways, it means nothing.
That is crazy. But if there is not such thing as 'outside of space' and it just goes on forever and ever, then how will the universe burn out?
Physics Geek Alert I did this for A-level a few years back so any degree students might be able to pick holes in it but heres my two cents The universe wont burn out. The universe is exapanding from a central point but in all directions at once so everything is expanding both from the centre and from each other. However all the matter in the universe has mass and therefore gravitational pull on each other. The expanding universe theory says that if the total mass of the universe doesnt create enough pull to slow the expansion and reverse it the universe will go on forever. However, if there is enough mass then the universe will eventually pull itself back together into one huge mass, until the next time. Since they say the universe is about 4 billion years old then this theory in my opinion is probably true. So if you get three wishes dont ask to live forever because it wont end prettily.
