I finally convinced my parents to let me get a tattoo for my 17th birthday as long as I payed. I don't want anything big considering this will be my first tattoo and I want no regrets. My FIRST idea is possibly 2 chinese symbols, 1 over my heart that stands for love and another on my back on my left shoulder blade or whatever that stands for hate. Being symbolic, in a way meaning there will be love to come, put hate BEHIND you. Sound decent? Any ideas on something symbolic?

If you don't want any regrets, you might be better off not seeking advice from strangers on the internet.

Also, avoid Chinese symbols and, in my opinion, indeed any text at all. Take nothing off the wall. Best case, I think, is think of something that would mean something to you and sit down and talk with the artist and have them sketch you something.

Only my opinions, of course. Another one of those is, don't rush into it. Don't put a timeframe on when you want it done. Figure out what you want, where you want it, and then do it.

    what jimmy said

i really like symbols taht speak to you, ie i have cherry blossoms because they remind of my family, i want some egyptian symbols (ie ankh) because of my obsession with ancient egytp and archaeology in general, etc

pick something that speaks to you

Okay guys, thanks a lot. I'm not going to rush it, it has been in the back of my mind for a solid year as in I've been in SERIOUS consideration. Hmm, suppose I'll just have to let it come to me in its own time.
