yeah that's what we wanted was a real sweet kitty. we got him when he was 5 weeks old and I'm bummed that he's gonna lose the only family he's ever really known. this sucks bigtime. I'm prolly gonna cry now. I grieve everything. lol!
I'm afraid my little guy won't do her much good since he's no longer properly equipped. you really should train your dog better though. wtf? couple of seconds?? that just won't do at all. :toetap05:
Blues , I dont follow it. U dont need to leave the baby and cat asleep in the same place? Cats DO get used to new arrivals provided you dont just ignore them. ( Id say 6 months maybe 9 months max) When I was a baby there were 2 older cats in the house.Yes theyd hiss and I wouldnt pick em up til I was about 4 ish.But they were definitely never a "danger". I reckon persevere for a while.
Our cat would lurk under the pool table in the living room and attack the kids ankles when they would go by. He'd run our youngest down. They were terrified of him...then we armed them fly swatters and they could fend him off long enough to get away. This was when the girls were one and six, and we still have the cat and the kids talk about how much fun it was to chase the cat with the fly swatters...your cat sounds way bold. I hope you don't have to give your beautiful puss away, I don't know what I'd do with out mine
lol! yeah we tried that with the fly swatter and our girl didn't do well with it. she's kinda whimpy when it comes to the cat, no matter what we say to her. I think she's intimidated by him and he can tell. when he tries to attack me I'll chase him through the house, grab him up by the scruff, stare him down and growl at him that I'm the boss. lolol!
Well thats the ideal situation then. A cat aint adult til 18 months. And your daughter will be getting so much bigger the cat will be scared of her anyway. So IMO , the cat can learn to get along. You just need a bit of animal psychology to speed up the process. I say persevere.I remember how my cat hated the new cat.But soon they were best friends.
A water gun should do the trick if not used indiscriminately----just when said puss is being too feisty.
Update: we had a family meeting tonight and my daughter decided she would try to assert her authority with the cat. So we got her her own special fly swatter which she will yield as a weapon. There will be a battle of wills... cat vs. kid. Who will win? Cat? or kid?
$20 on the cat. Whatever you do, don't videotape any part of the brutality and upload it to youtube. People are sensitive to that sort of thing nowadays.
nah! it won't be brutal.. just a fly swatter. but, maybe it'll be enough to help the cat back down some. at least we're hoping.
Just put a sweater on the cat with the cats face on the front on the cat and cart him around in a wheelchair at your local mall
