Hi, I would love to connect with anyone that has experienced Nelson BC. I have been told that it's a great place and I would love to be where people are awake, u know, conscious and striving towards freedom! I'm a reggae drummer by trade and in need of work. I also sing. I'm willing to move there, but being an American it would be great if there was someway to earn money under the table. Any advice would be most appreciated. LoVe!
I'm not from Nelson but love it very very dearly there. I strongly encourage anyone go there, the people are lovely, the land is lovely, is very full of motion of all sorts. It is however a little more difficult to find somewhere to live and work, but not so hard that it's not worth trying. Under the table jobs can be found. Also the food banks and services for helping new people get settles are lovely. I mostly lived with people on the beach and in the woods- but that's more my style.
I'm really hoping to find some work in nelson come spring. I was there once when I was 7 but don't really remember too much but I hear so many good things about the area. I guess I'll see for myself soon enough...
I had no problems finding work in Nelson, but I couldn't find a place for me and my family to live. So we ended up in Nakusp, a couple of hours away.n We road trip to Nelson regularly to catch some shows, dance & shop.
lol... I freaking ADORE Nelson, I would love ot live there, and hopefully will one day, or atleast a surrounding city/town. Good luck!
yeah - today is Star Belly Jam. who else is going? look for a cream colored VW van with a grey pop top. i'll be here all weekend.
I am interested in getting in contact with other people living in Nelson, as I am moving there this week, due to being screwed over in rent by my sister (long story.) Iti s sudden and I am really nervous so it would be sweet to meet people who live there too.
Its really easy to meet a lot of cool people.. check out the Back Country Hostel, the Holy Smoke shop and Psychedelie Cafe, the farmer's market flea market thing in the park is a great place too... Also a lot of cool people hang out at the bars at night.. (this is all in a 6 block radius) I hung out there for 10 days just chillin downtown, and going on a hikes, and drives around the area (down to Creston and the Okanagon) One of the funnest times of my life.. I hope to maybe do some more migrant fruit picking at some point, and pass through on the way, I met A LOT of great friends just in the 10 days!!
I didn't see anything on their website just now... and something tells me that just wouldn't happen.. the Canadian government might be becoming less tolerant, I dont know, but when I was there a couple years a go, there was really slack sentencing, like if you get caught with less than an ounce while driving you have to park your car on the side of the road for the night, and pick it up the next day.. and a guy told me his friend only got 18 months when he was in possession of 90lbs.. hopefully it stays chill there.. its such a sanctuary
