im doing a paper and the topic is "Discuss whether equality and liberty can co-exist in a just society" anybody got any good articles that i could be linked too that focuses on that topic ? or any personal insight you could give me to argue that can be supported by evidence. Reasons why or why it isn't possible
Equality and liberty can co-exist in a just society. I mean, it does in a plant's life. A just society is designed to regulate equality and liberty so that it functions for people. Try not to think of equality and liberty in linear terms, like there is a scale and maximizing both is the ultimate goal of a just society. You need an a priori to defend your thesis, so which side are you taking?
Equality is a lie..... The idea that everybody has the exact same shit and are treated the exact same way is bullshit. Liberty can exist in a just society...... Liberty is the option to work out of your current situation.. but equality can never exist, it's nothing but a propaganda tool.
Terms like equality and unity make me cringe, because I know they are nothing like most people envision. They are more utopian labels that are thrown out there for people to regurgitate without knowing what they mean.
The only ones that would argue that it couldn't exist would be those that seek to advance or reap power by making others subservient to their needs. And those individuals can only attain their positions of power by that mechanism, they don't engender either the individual strength or intelligence to accomplish it by themselves, but if they can harness the strength of other's in their interest, then they by default can enslave other's to their whims and governance. It's the same motivational factor that rapists use. And that by their thinking instills them with power..But it doesn't make their dicks any bigger, and it never will.
