hello brothers and sisters, i was wondering if anyone had any info on the northeastern gathering peace
Read the "sticky" NERF's lightline is in there. Jeez, now I'm beginning to understand Dr. Sardonica's ways. (Turnup, that is) Zen
Wtf Are You Thinking? Coming To This Forum And Asking About Rainbow? Are You A True Hippy? Born On A Bus? Can't Read? Do Not Kow How To Work A Damn Phone? Do You Expect Anyone Here To Care About Your Quest Of Rainbow Info! Fuck! It Is In The Damn Sticky! The Damn Sticky!
Whose forum????? Turnups? Mine? Barry Plunkers? Skips? We care (at least I do) but it does seem SO MANY of these kids are wearing blinders. Zen
PERSONALLY... I have never liked "stickies" and the way they are utilized with "rainbow" oriented sites. A person. Maybe a few people. Get together and write up something about "rainbow" and feel that it is the AUTHORITATIVE answer to anyone's questions about rainbow. It becomes the staple of ignorance and laziness. What do many of you "go read the sticky" people do, when you are approached in person, by an eager young individual that wants information on rainbow? Do you tell them to "READ MY STICKY!" DON'T EVEN WANT TO GO THERE! First off. EVERYONE has different views when it comes to what rainbow is and means to them. Then... there is the vast differences of people and their particular experiences with rainbow gatherings and rainbow folk. What is wrong with hearing them instead of forcing them to a few people's "expert" opinions. Now... let's take "our" sticky into observation. WHAT IS THE FIRST THING IT SAYS? "Please do not reply to this post. If you have any questions or comments, please start a new thread." WOW! AMAZING! People might have questions... go figure. Kind of shut out of asking questions about a sticky that ONE... or a FEW... people wrote. They come here to ask questions. I would hate to see the way that the "sticky" folk treat curious people in person! One of the last things that is said in the stick is "For everyone who didn't get it: the Gathering in the United States is July 4 week." Am I stupid? I did not get it! I guess ... the message is... the gathering is on the US on July 4th! I think there is much more to it than that. The fucking sticky is not different than any FS form. STANDARD AND OUTDATED! It does nothing to answer anything but say... "DO NOT ASK US... go elsewhere" "Please don't ask questions that we are already discussing" WTF? If there is a discussion in place... do not ask questions pertaining to what is being discussed! Not everyone has endless hours everyday to sit at a computer and READ ALL THE FUCKING THREADS TO SEE IF SOMETHING HAS BEEN ASKED! A good majority of Rainbow do not even have computers and are new to the internet and the way forums work. Compassion and respect? I do not know. Pretty damn simple. If you do not want to answer someone's question or do not have the info they seek, OR HAVE WRONG INFO, just do not post. SOMETIMES IT IS BETTER THAN GIVING USELESS INFO SUCH AS DIRECTING THEM TO THE NERF LIGHTLINE! Now... Zen... I am asking you. When have you called that number in the sticky? I just called it to verify what I already new. RECORDING! DISCONNECTED! What good is having a sticky if it is outdated. Hell... I have free long distance. Wonder how many of those light lines are even correct or working! If people are going to swear by the "READ THE STICKY"... should the damn thing be right? Captain... maybe you can glean some info from one of these pages... or get some contact info. NERF and NERF and zen... my earlier post was not directed at you. It was directed at the "Read the "sticky"" remark. At least the spirits knew I was being sarcastic! :cheers2:
i dunno,usually if im seeking information i just GOOGLE IT.what a concept aye? http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&...esult&cd=1&q=northeast+rainbow+family&spell=1
you can only learn so much by reading about something. Sometimes... pre-written words can not describe, nor adapt and change to the differences of people's experiences and thoughts, on something such as rainbow.
I think it is more a sign of laziness. If someone expects someone else to do all her online research, what is this person going to expect to be handed on a silver platter once she gets to a gathering?
You made some good points, Poorphucker. BUT.... the sticky may not be updated yet don't you think it should be read first THEN questions asked to fill in the blanks?? Imagine some kid comes here and writes..." I'm new to Rainbow. I've read the "sticky" thread but I'd like more info about things. How many folks here would be willing to help out? Most would. I understand this nations educational level is approaching third world status but it's no excuse for being lazy and putting the responsibility for info on others. I would suggest that more Rainbows than you think are computer literate. Libraries see lots of hippies use the free puters. Hippies on hotmail!!!!! As far as lightlines go I never use them and had no idea any or all might be old. You're right. The sticky should be updated or maybe links to Welcome home, Welcomehere or other Rainbow sites included. Not my job, though. I just think it's kind of rude to come on a site asking questions that one could find on their own. Zen
written word is just that,be it written 5 minutes ago or 5 years ago. if it says the same thing then it means the same thing.. one thing i do agree with ya on (if im interpreting you correctly ) is there is only one way to answer anyones questions about rainbow, and that is for them to go experience it for themselves.. reading about it only serves to give one a preconceived notion that is bound to be shattered by the reality of it all.. lol
First snip.... The track record here has not been too helpful to people asking questions. I do not know how many times I have read someone tell another to read the sticky, and the person had already, and were coming to FIND OUT MORE! And NO... most of the people that have the info or know the info that is requested... ARE THE ONES THAT DO NOT HELP AND ONLY SAY "READ THE STICKY"! What is so rainbow about a person, that claims to be rainbow, yet criticize others new to rainbow because they are eager to learn about rainbow? It would be very debatable on WHO is indeed the LAZY ones when it comes to this. The new eager person that is wanting to learn about rainbow>? Gone out of their way to come here and ask the actual people, instead of reading something from god knows who online, and then get ridiculed or degraded? Or the PERSON THAT CLAIMS TO BE RAINBOW AND THEN DOES NOTHING TO HELP THE NEWCOMER FIND THE INFO THAT THEY MIGHT HAVE? I will go with the second as being the lazy one! The newbies DID more just by coming here! Second snip. I am not ignorant to the use of computers by rainbow. Since you stated the free use of computers at libraries.... why not go further. Wait times. Limited use and time constraints. Sometimes as little as 5 minutes. So... I disagree and do think that not everyone has all the time in the world to utilize the computer when they do have access. Not to mention all of the other things they need to do... such as write emails and read emails and other assorted computer timed task related. Maybe that person is actually out in the woods and only had a moment on the puter. Instead of getting help they get ignorance. Seems to be a standard here. 3rd snip. I do not think it is rude. I think it is more rude for a person that claims to be rainbow... to not want to help another person... OR AT LEAST TRY TO! Especially when it comes to something rainbow related. AND PEOPLE WONDER WHY THE TEMPERAMENT AT THE GATHERINGS HAVE CHANGED! BESIDES... has our world changed so much THAT A RAINBOW DOES NOT EVEN HAVE THE TIME TO HELP ANOTHER RAINBOW!
does it? If I read something about the gathering that has not changed in 20 years.... I WOULD BE IN FOR ONE HELL OF A SURPRISE WHEN I GOT TO A "TODAY'S" gathering.... based on what I read... that was written 20 years ago! And no... nothing can describe a gathering better than going to one. But... the experiences are so different for everyone. You can not ask a sticky a question and get a response from it. You can ask here. I think, the day a rainbow gets sick of someone asking them what rainbow is,.... maybe they need to rethink about what it is that rainbow is and means to themselves. Seems like they are pretty far from it themselves!
did you get your answer? and I see no hostility. Sometimes the best conversations, to me, seem hostile towards others. Life goes on. As for the original point... DID YOU GET YOUR ANSWER?
i get tired of repeating myself personally.. and just a observation poorphucker , but if you lurk enough to witness all this going on,why not step up,practice what you preach and spend the time answering all these questions that you say we fail to rather than lurk and just come out of hiding to criticize?
From http://www.hipforums.com/newforums/showthread.php?t=345333&f=64 And again http://www.hipforums.com/newforums/showthread.php?t=341279&f=64 I disagree.
and I could spend just as long finding the opposite posts... except for the ones that conveniently go poof after a bit! anyways..... let the same question be asked one year from fucking now and see who is the first person to fucking gripe about "read first".
Ones that include those important italicized highlighted parts that say I have done my research? Make it so!
