so theyre a week and a half old, i washed them on saturday, but ive got really really bad itchies.. atm i cant afford (or be bothered) to go out and get any herbies to make up a tea.. so my choices are:

    a bicarb wash
    knotty boy 'poo bar
    water rinse
    t-gel
or any other 'poo i find in the bathroom

its really bad! i just wanna scratch my scalp off ='[

    help =[

A bit of a scalp massage might help, in small firm-ish movements...not quite scratching, just to help your scalp with the natural shedding and stuff that brushing etc would usually have helped it with.

When you do get round to going out, try some aloe gel. I found it really soothing on my scalp when it was being aggro.

Bro i had itchies like fuck when i started the process and they lasted ages, its something to do with not washing ur scalp properly apparently.

Im not sure how long they last but im 18 months into the process going on 19 months and i still get the occasional bout of extreme itchiness.

I have since found nothing that helps apart from a good Dr. Bronners trea treee wash, keeps em un-itchy for a while.

I've just finished my first KB poo bar and while it seemed to tighten up my new dreadies a treat and keep the itchies at bay (for a couple of days at least), after a while it seemed to be making my scalp itch even more. This could be due to a) not rinsing it out fully, or b) the essential oils in it being a little too potent for my scalp. I'm not entirely sure which.

I've just switched to bicarb and this seems to be staving off the itchies for a little bit longer (like 1 day :(). It's also quite harsh and drying for my hair. I've found ACV is good for an itchy scalp too, as is rosemary tea, but nothing so far has been anything close to a miracle solution and 3 days between washes (I was a once a day girl b4 dreads) is the most I've been able to stretch it to before I've wanted to tear into my scalp with my nails.

I've come to the conclusion that the only way to reduce an oily, itchy scalp is to really bite the bullet and greatly extend the time between washing in order to re-regulate oil production. Has anybody here actually managed to do this, 'cos easier said than done when your scalp is itching like a bastard after only 2 days without 'poo!!

see its weird, cause i got dreads and didnt wash for 6 days (i think) and i wasnt that itchy, but then only 4 days later, im nearly making my scalp bleed from scratching it so much, and i have to wash it again. its weird, and annoying. i think im just ganna end up washing twice a week anyway, its no big deal (until they fall oot)

    rosemary
    also
'the bicarb, how are u mixing it?
too much teatree adds tio itches..but a lil helps alot
i leave it on a god bit and it gets rid of itches for biyt 5-6 days, then the daty b4 its wash day it gets itchy again

its not hard to bite the bullety and extend toweards a week, just go as day longer then u think u can stand it till u get there

thyme tea helps ioiliness, rosemary dandruff

    limmit the sea salt
that may be really agrevating things
or use it on dreads only carefuly avoiding the swcalp

ooooh it really was hard not to scratch, it was horrible.

next time i wash im ganna either reduce or remove the sea salt, and reduce the amount of tea tree and see what happens

how i mix it.. i put bicarb in a jug, add the salt, add the tea tree, put in the water, stir, dump on my head, catch in a bowl, pour back into the jug, back over my head, then repeat, then rinse it off

well, compared to what i have endured few months ago.. the itching subsided.. maybe its like the scalp is adjusting or something.. well, if you really wanna scratch it though, try using nail-brush as it is more harmless than any other method.. like scratching like a bonobo or something..
