I have one, but don't use it because it leaks ALL of the time. It just doesn't stay in there right. Great idea, but I don't need an embarrassing leak ever AGAIN. I'll only use it when I go hiking or camping and hope it doesn't leak.
I've never used it, but I've been thinking about it. I know that many women from the Peace Corps recommend it. Cut's down on waste and is more convenient in places that are low on luxuries (like a toilet).
Are you guys sure you're putting it in properly? It shouldn't leak if it's been put in right. Mine leaked when I first got it, because I guess I wasn't inserting it the right way, but now I'm used to it and it doesn't leak anymore. Either that or maybe you just need the bigger size. But tampons just suck in a million ways and I'd never use one again unless I really really had to for some reason.
Mine leaks too..but Todays the 1st day using it.. I think its in right though I mean its comfortable.. not taking it out everytime.. Is it supposed to be partly hanging out.. cause mine isnt at all? The 1st time taking it out was not comfortable at all either...but i got it out I just wish it wouldnt leak cause i feel like i have to sit up still and not move in hopes that it woulnt leak! I hope its because its in wrong..it would stink to have to buy a bigger size :/
It should sit REALLY low. With my stem cut off completely in certain positions-like squatting- it still irritates me sticking out a little. (maybe I just have a low cervix?) Can you spin/turn it once you get it in? If it turns easily, and you can feel that it is fully open and you know it is sitting properly cupping your cervix. IT DOES NOT NEED TO BE IN AS FAR AS A TAMPON When you remove it- it helps stick a finger on the side a little to break the bit of seal- and bend it from the fully open position- if that makes sense. Do you have a divacup or a mooncup-or what kind.. I am not sure on the others(but I know they are VERY SIMILAR)-but the divacup only comes in 2 sizes. 1 is for women who are under thirty and never given birth, and 2 is for women who HAVE given birth OR are over 30- but really they are very very close in size , so it is sort of unlikely that THAT would be the problem. the site has loads of advice for insertion and removal: http://www.divacup.com/en/home/faqs/ and http://www.divacup.com/en/home/faqs/ really- THAT is the trickiest part ,but once you get it it becomes really easy :cheers2:
Wow... I've been away forever due to not having internet and I come back and this thread is still going. I'm so proud of it. Really gets the word out about healthy alternatives.
I have a diva cup.. When i put it in it always moves up! Its no fun trying to take it out either! its hard to grip it and pull it out the only way is to use my nails which i dont feel safe doing. Its like everytime i have to take it out I ask myself why I let myself put it in there..ill try your method..but i think maybe mine moves up too far..When i try to spin it..it does spin..But i cant say that I know its fully open..i really cant tell if it is..i just assume that it is..and so im not sure if its properly cupping my cervix..im going to check out that site agian..Thanks for the info I hope to figure out the problem..so that i can leave the tampons behind..I have gladrags but i need to wear both methods of protection for the first couple days or spills are sure to happen..anyhows I really hope my diva cup will work..Ill really enjoy it if and when it does
mine moves up too but its easy to move it down the vigina if you know how. you have to push the cup down by squeesing your muscles. imagine trying to push a baby out of there, its the same technique but you do short sharp pushes rather than long pushes. that will move it down so you can get hold of it without using your nails.
I did some googling the other day and found loads of info from women who have had problems using the diva. There are message boards and everything...with photos of many different folds. I tried using it for the last couple of days and I feel better about it, no leaks! Let's just say that the instructions that come with it are stupid and written for one vagina, which was not mine. "horizontally toward your tailbone" is pretty unhelpful, since I can't see a cross section of myself. Also, the Diva Cup people should not claim how wonderful and easy it is to use, because there is a learning curve and it made me give right up because it was not instantly easy. It helped me so much to hear from real people who got used to it.
Oh, i am just scared looking at those cups , they freak me out - i preffer just pads myself, i only menstrate for 2 days every month anyways ( even tho the first day is heavy ). Ive heard of people using sea sponges instead of comercial tampons as a natural alternative and apparrently works better.
Day 2 of my Diva Cup and I absolutely love it! I have had NO problems. The first 2 days are so heavy and I figure if I can get through that with no problems, I'm good to go! I was so nervous cause I spent the money on it, and have seen so many people talk about how they hate it. I personally am a HUGE fan
