Ahh 2 weeks is nothing :) I'm still finding loose dreads at nearly 9 months :p S'all right though, if you sort em out early they'll be fine ^^

I'm sure everyone will say the same thing... They'll do their own thing :) Leave them be, they'll come together evantually, and if you help them along a bit thats cool :)

The best thing I learnt over this last 8/9 months is patience :) Thats the key

    hahaha yea pretty much
    i assume u backcombed?
backcombed hair is just backcombed hair, its not really part of the process just something ppl do to feel like they accomplished something quickly
no mattert how u start dreads they go completely crazy awhile
    this is how dreads dread
    its chaos creatting order
    love the priocess
and remember that hairs must do crazy crazy wild uncontrolled things to become locked in place
at 3 weeks after backcombing theyd just start ceasing to be bawckcombed hair and start attempting to be dreads
typicaly if u went natural 3 weeks might be when u see the beginnings of priogress (starting to section and clump together)
so your really right on track with things beginning to go alittle wild before becomming more ordered and set into permenant locks

if they were hard at 2 weeks im guessing u must have had something in em making em hard like wax? normaly they would be pretty puffy the 1st few weeks
and slowly become more dence spongy (not hard) as they tightened

but lets say u backcombed the hell outta em till they were fairly compacted, this still is just backcombed hair that must move to lock, so loosening is a nesacary step
without loosening they wouldnt be able to really dread

    come back in 3 months
thats when they'll be moving into the fully drewaded (but not yet mature) stages..with loops kinks bumps buds flat spots splits and all sorts of whacky crazy things they do in the rebelios adolescent stages before reaching maturity

dreads are a lifelong adventure, not a quick hairstyle

just sit back relax anbd enjoy the circus act happening on your head

haha ok u posted the pics as i was typing
so looking at what ya got going on it seems your hair maybe oily?

oh also, what all have u done to get to this point

ok if your hairs oily, use thyme (as a tea) sprayed on the scalp weekluy or so to help it not be oily
also deep ckleanse with sea salt can dry it some

    now to the dreads themselves
they look just fine, the reletive shortness might hurt ya a bit, short hair tends to not like holding knots easily
but no big deal u got a stroing foundation that will dread more with length

    also..how do u wash it..they look flattened like u use a stocking?
    stop that
just pour the deep cleanse over youir head..wait a bit then rince..shake em out and go

in general they are on the right track tho..
just need time to grow up

think of em like fetuses, barely formed barely recognizable as what they will one day become
in a month or so they will be born as actual dreads but still need time to grow up and mature into adults

as a fetus all u can do is feed them right (keep em clwean and healthy) and love em and hope for the best...and trust that everything will turn out fine

soiunds like oil buildup what soap u useing wash noprmaly no stocking or do the deep cleanse which is zero rubbing so wont loosen things up at all better to wear a wool hat then a stocking or leave em alone stockings are too damn constrictive to alow movement and they will just flatten everything up a wool tam alows movement whoile keepoing them together and causes static which i think helps em knot try the thyme deep cleanse wool hat changes and give it 3 weeks see how that goes i never used a stocking ore anything and as u know never backcombed, and washed vigerouslywhen starting and washing helped knots form noit unravekled em so i think all the babying them is counter productive alrthough i caj see a point for a lil protectiveness early on..so deep cleanse instead of rubbing ..and wool hat instead of stockimng

They look great, as the rest said, patience is the key :)
Have a look at the inspiration thread to keep yourself happy ;)
I still have alot of loose hair, you can leave it, or you can poke it in the roots :)
    Good luck

i thought that it was oil build up
my hair was doing fine and the build up started after i used Dr.Bonners shampoo
and im gonna stop with the stocking it does make it flat and i noticed the flating has made in end real loose at the flat end
and when i wash i jus get it soaked no rubbing or any thing then throw some Dr. Bonners i was using just an oil free bar of soap i would lather it up on the stocking
washing it def makes it feel and look better so i thnk ima wash it a couple times a week instead of one to help cut the oild down and how do i do the sea salt jus mix it with hot water spray it on then what wash let it sit????

I'm at almost 3 months and I'm having a "they look like poop" week. :( I've nearly torn them out twice already - and it's only Tuesday. They've just shrunk so frickin much, and are a completely bonkers mass of zig-zaggy, fuzzy, loopy wierdness. On the plus side... they're definitely dreads now, albeit rather scratty ones :D and those that have shrunk have done so as much as they're going to (I hope). I think in all truth the only problem is that I am quite possibly THE MOST IMPATIENT PERSON IN THE UNIVERSE!! Why oh why was a blessed/cursed with such an all pervading need to dread my hair?? Oh yeah... that's why
